Hey guys Formal Wakeskates is a go!

I have decided on the name Formal so i can now get some board graphics made up! i will be posting pictures of the board to show you guys what they look like in the next couple of weeks.

They will be starting off at about $200 + shipping!

They will be a wood construction with a single concave and a 3 stage rocker, i will only be making them with grip tape.

Once i start selling a few boards i will get a website up and running that will just be a temporary one until i can get a proper one made.

I can assure you they will be great quality boards and would love t if you guys could show some support and help get my name out in the Wakeskate community! So if you know anyone who is after a new board tell them to send me a email(email is below) for the first couple of boards i will be able to do a bit cheaper!

Email: nic_g2008@hotmail.com

Thank you!

Thank you man!

Just one problem my community isnt really a wakeskate community Sad i live on a beach in Australia, so it will be hard to promote the brand, im going to mainly have to do it all online, i go away maybe 2-3 times a year if im lucky each 1 week in length to go wakeskating/wakeboarding/skiing and i have to drive 4 hours just to get there so its going to be a struggle to get my name out around my area

nic_g, where in Australia do you live? Wakeskating is huge over there now and it's only getting bigger. OZ probably has the 2nd or 3rd largest wakeskate community in the world. Promote your brand at all the cable parks and link up with Union Magazine. Hit up Follow Handles or any other Aussie wake brands to help out. 4 Hours is nothing man.. this is wakeskating, you gotta put in the work if you want to make it. There's no easy way around it, I spend well over half the year driving and living out of my car for wakeskating.. and I'm still broke.

Anyways, good luck with your endeavor. Shoot me an email down the road when you've got everything dialed in and I'd be happy to help spread the word.

I am planning to sell them everywhere im willing to ship to any country. Im currently making a temporary website which will allow people to buy my boards of there.

@tad, Hey tad im from ocean grove which is south victoria im about 1.5hours from melbourne and the closet cable park i know of is sydney and i cant do alot of travel this year because i am doing my last year of school, but im happy to travel to melbourne if there is anyone up there that would like to try out/demo my boards, maybe if i get up and running, during my holidays i could make some trips to sydney/brisbane and check out bli bli and penrith,

Really all im asking for now is people to help me out by spreading my name in the community and i will hopefully start selling some boards

Honestly, I would recommend skipping the temporary website. You want a good first impression.

Look at Southern skates. They built a legit team, had guys on the Wakeskate Tour (and killed it), went on a tour, and got magazine coverage all before launching their website and having product. They built demand and respect right away. They didnt half ass anything. When their website launched it was the real deal.

If you build a crappy site and sell cheap boards, that's the impression people are going to get from you. If later you build a nicer website and raise your prices: 1, people might have forgetten you by then, or 2, they wont want to pay the higher price because they still see you as that cheap skate company from before.

Also, I 100% agree with Tad. Wait and do it right.

I feel like mitch is right on. None of this is to dissuade you from pursuing a goal, but i think people have high expectations for what a company can offer. And new brands have been broken based on a shiznackle reputation they made for themselves, be it on this discussion board, how they handle business, etc.

I would personally like to see a koala in a tuxedo leaning against a bar and smoking a cigarette and drinking a martini, Bond style.

fletch, I like that.

A whole Australian animal series would be sweet. You could have them all wearing suits/tuxes in classy situations. The Koala at the bar with a martini, a box jellyfish in a suit playing poker, etc....

I was gonna start a board company and call them boner boards and our slogan would be " the hardest woods on the water! "
