Just thought I'd share with those who don't know. This little thing is your best friend when surfacing a rail. It's a countersink bit. What it does is makes a little simi-sphere indention so you can drill your screws into the hole making it beyond flush.

That is called countersinking, and what you posted is an 82 degree, 1/2", 4 flute countersink cutter. They are pretty sweet.

I prefer this type, pilots and countersinks in one step. Depth is adjustable as well.
