Alright so this summer I built my first winch.

I got a 6.5 Greyhound with a torque converter, built the frame and spool myself, and everything looks great.

The only problem is that I cant get the speed I want. I'm not a big guy, I weigh 155 and I'm not deep water starting. By the time i get through about 500 feet of rope I'm only going about 15 miles and hour.

Is 6.5 enough power for you guys? or should I try to throw on something with more hp?

I don't know how to find my gear ratio Sad sorry.

The diameter of my spool is 6 inches. I have a 60 tooth sprocket.

you are probably going to want to run a larger spool. try about an 8 inch dia.

or get a smaller sprocket 52t or 54t maybe?
