Does anyone have any experience with using a pully or something similar to winch with? For example... you can't get your winch out in the desired spot to pull from.
I'm wondering if you would get a loss of power/torque/top end.?
Something I was looking at:

I doubt you would lose any power or torque. It would probably work great! But you don't need a $90, 20,000 pound one. The most weight you put on the winch is what ur arms can hold plus an "angle multiplier" which never more than doubles the working load. So unless you can bench press a Volkswagen bus, that might be overkill. Something with 1000 pound capacity should work good. Check out part number 3099t18 on mcmaster.com, or something like that!
Let us knowhow it works!! _________________

I've always thought about this, I'm pretty sure it would work. You'd have to attach it to something pretty solid though. |

Nice link robsmaze,
I haven't had time to test this yet, but hopefully soon!
As far as setup... I would have a pully block tied off to a tree or attached to a stake in the ground with the winch off to the side. _________________ Aaron |

I've winched around corners with the line up against a tree and it worked fine. A pulley would make it way better you just have to be careful of your handle hitting the pulley. |

I believe that a pulley would work great, but I agree that you'll need to be careful not to have the handle sucked into the pulley, the rider needs to keep the handle even if he falls and the winch operator needs to cut power in time, communication is key! _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆

I'm definitely not worried about the handle going into it. The gap I have in mind really only allows for the winch to sit on an awning about 10 feet directly above the spillway itself. _________________ Aaron |

i use this...if you put many knots to the end of the handle then whant breaks it's the knot
there is a cheaper alternative in amazon |

I've also winched just using a carabeaner. It worked great! Warn winches makes a snatch block pully that opens up so you don't haft to remove the handle but seriously, a carabeaner is cheaper and works just as well _________________ Without water one cannot live.

the way it is working now is great
i only wish i had the remote control...does anyone have the link for the diy remote control for the winch? |

use a motorcross tiedown strap
hook them in opposing directions slide the rope through and duct tape them
also the remote controll is only going to make it harder to drive, adjust speeds like a boss, and etc , you dont need it
a driver should be feeling their winch... _________________ https://vimeo.com/moontowerco |

Just go ahead and buy a handful of your pulleys, position them around your pond of choice and you can just make it a do it yourself cable park.
