Ok,
So, I have been in the market for a winch now for about a year. I have built 2 before, but have never been to satisfied with my craftsmanship. That's not to mention it rusting and breaking and the like. I decided that I will retire my current rig to only snow, as the engine was never strong enough to pull adequately. I have looked at the Ridiculous winch's, the pulldozer, and many other rigs on the market today. I can't help turning the page back to the new Grinch Pro. It is, after all, a good looking setup. It claims to have stainless steal parts and the engine is nice and enclosed with the spool. I do, however, think the price is up there.
Has anyone here taken a pull behind the new Grinch Pro? Any thoughts on it that might help influence my decision? I appreciate the feedback.

Ever tried a new winch? All your concerns will be satisfied. Best pulls ever and we price them to push the sport so more people can get involved with out spending to much. _________________ Its all wood, in da hood |

No way. We work with top grade marine woods used for building high end yachts. We have a board that was in the swimming pool for a year and a half before we bolted it to the fence 8 years ago and we pulled it down the other day to have a look and it's still has not warped _________________ Its all wood, in da hood |

I think the new wood winch is rad. Reminds me of a wooden frame for a canon on a pirate ship! _________________ Without water one cannot live.

the new winch has a 212cc(ibelive) and is properly geared and includes a tav! the only downside is the wood...but i havent seen one...i just think is really cool!!! i trying to convince somebody to buy that one!
the phoenix winch knows the stuff and cheapely get that 11hp!
the pulldozer is been around and has 8hp! and is a pulldozer! haha
you can even build one ...
one problem i had with the winch before having the best setup ever...was the gearing(first 12:55, then 10:40 then 10:50) and then the chain(from 35 to 40) was touching some part of the driven unit and taking away 30% of the torque ...fixed that
and i am so happy with my winch!
you should upgrade the engine of your winch or try to build another one!
get a nrracing engine!!!!
get the boodog because is electric!!! and fix the ones you have now! |

Wow! Lots of responses this last couple of days... wish it had been last year. I ended up buying the Distortion Grinch Pro
Why so sad, you ask? I had a completely different exchange with Adam at Distortion. I opted to work and buy directly from him. I spoke with him on the phone and after a couple of conversations, I paid him for the winch. He said it would ship right away and I was stoked. Well, after a couple of weeks he finally got my tracking number. He wouldn't return my calls or emails. I had to "blow him up" just to get a response. He eventually informed me that he had been running a comp. Never thought to mention that or anything like it to me. Well, when I finally got the winch I noticed there were some difference in what I got vs. what he promised. There were no wheels included as we discussed. The handle for moving it around was not included. and, he didn't even include the Distortion wake handle. I was not pleased by this. I again had to go through hell and high-water to get ahold of him. Finally he fed me this line about the handles being on backorder? Sounds odd to me. I still have never received the wake handle he promised me and I paid for. I did eventually receive the carrying handle and the wheel kit. So that was good. Also, his specs indicated there were holes to stake it down, there are not. There are carrying handles on the frame, but they are powder coated and 8-10" long... not ideal for staking. Under the hood I was promised an 11hp Subaru engine that was "fuel injected". I should have wondered what the hell that meant. It was actually a regular 6-7 hp Subaru engine. It may have been modified internally, but I really doubt it. He crammed all the components under the hood with no regard for what interfered with what. The fuel line deteriorated quickly and had no tolerances around other engine components. Needless to say, the lines started leaking and the engine also lost vacuum to the "fuel pump (not fuel injected)". There was no fuel filter either. In place of a air filter, there is a cut of window screen clamped onto the open side of the carb- not ideal but acceptable. The engine was mounted to the frame crooked, and the sprocket was offset to compensate. Very odd. Overall, this was definitely NOT worth the money I paid for it. I think it is good looking machine, but it falls short of many of it's promises. I was never going to post a negative review about this, but he never even made good on the wake handle. If there are any doubts about what I am saying here, I will be happy to upload emails of all my transactions with him and pictures, inside and out, of what I actually got. I really wish I had gone with the PullDozer. Those machines look solid, and it sounds like they actually deliver. 3 grand, 3 f%&#ing grand... _________________ forever shreddin' |
