|
|
Ive got the pop and the spin, but the board is always behind me. I can't figure out how to keep the board under me. With shuvits I can scoop the board forward, but with the kickflip there doesnt seem to be anything i can do to keep it under me. I know I am missing something.
I don't have any video of my attempts, so I know it's tougher to diagnose.
Thanks |

If the board is flipping and your going past it; then, that probably means you need a better ollie. _________________ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9 |

Nice. You'll hit one. But keep in mind the basic ollie is the closest trick to a kickflip. Foot pressure(weighting and/or unweighting) vertically up and down the skate is the true basis of the ollie. In other words, is your probably being too brutal with your front foot. _________________ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. i<3wksk8, oh ok. That makes sense because i do kick it pretty hard. So less kick? I feel like i have a pretty solid ollie, but this kickflip is frustrating. I have put it off for a long time, but its the trick I need to open the door for other tricks. |

Do you ever get blasted in the back of the head landing in front of your deck? My worst fear of wakeskating... _________________ The promise of heaven out of reach.

you gotta get the board to go forward.......when u ollie....try making a gradual cut rather than an aggresive one. when u unweight your front foot as the nose of the board is rising, flick not just down.......but out and away, leading yourself on the flick.......the way a quarterback leads a receiver. _________________ dbanana wrote:

brassmonkey, no. But anytime i fall and am going to pop back out of the water I cover my head with my arms just in case. It's a good habit.

More or less. Think about how you flatten off an ollie. That is similar to how you should flip the deck. Just bring your foot over (toward that heel rail) a little. But not too far or you kickflips will start turning backside. _________________ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. i think if you take away some of the air you are getting on height....... add it to the distance .......not the distance you go........distance the deck is going........she may be there waiting for you......dressed to kill.
remember snoop dogg, stay behind that a$$....always keep the deck out in front. _________________ dbanana wrote:

Raven, i used to try flicking out and forward but the board would do a forward flip, and then I would usually fall forward really awkwardly haha. Maybe ill try that approach again. |

no kick ..........flick......a kick is just going to push her down.........you wanna flick her on her way up.
slide your front foot off the deck more, so when u flick, u just get a peice off her rather than a whole chunk.
hope this helps my brother on the shores of another sleepless mother _________________ dbanana wrote:

wakemitch, try this. Put a little bit more weight on your backfoot as you pop your ollie than roll more weight onto your front foot as you catch it so you dont slip out the back on the landing.
and i will have the money for that board this week |

the biggest thing if your getting it to rotate fine is probably just your edge/stance
do a nice edge out
but as your edging out pull the handle into your waist...what this does is get your body over your board....you want your shoulders square with your nose and tail and also when you pull yourself forward on the rope you release the tension that is constantly pulling your forward making you lose your board behind you.
However ....you must wait a split second after the edge and not throw the kickflip on edge or else you will keep traveling away from the wake and the board wont follow.
My last tip is right before you are about to throw the kickflip think in your head you are about to throw a front shifty kickflip and open up your shoulders , this helps the board from doing a that nose dive aka forward flip
cheers and good luck, it will finally just click in your head _________________ www.jimizwakenskate.com
