I've got around $2,000 to spend, and I really want to get something that I can ride behind.
I could probably look for things up to $3,000 and see what I can do. Just wondering what you think is the best buy for the least money. I live in Sarasota, so if you know anyone trying to sell anything let me know!

Where in Sarasota do you live? I live like 10min south in Nokomis. I'd say get a ski, there's kids up there with winches already and a ski is really the only way to ride in flat water around here(ie: shallow coves, etc..) I take my ski out all the time and haven't had a problem with it for over 2years besides a battery. And they're decent on gas.

nautique, you can take more freinds out to pay for gas, take girls on the boat, have fun on the water other than just skating...fishing, cruising and stuff like that

I don't know if I'll be able to afford a nautique..
Stick to the range I posted in the title.. 2,000-maybe 3,000 or so

dpc1192, that is a two seater. I would recommend looking for a three seater. won't get pulled around as easy by the rider, or tip over when trying to get back on it.

Find a cheap 16ft aluminum boat. And get a brand new 25hp yamaha 2 stroke for around $2500.
I bought my motor brand new in 2007. And put AT LEAST 15 hours a week and weekend on it. And just had my first problem with it last week after 3 years.

dpc1192, 3 seater ski man, with a 4 stroke or even a 2 stroke 3 cylinder if possible. Also, if it were me I'd would for sure try and make sure it's a Yamaha. Sea-Doo's from around 1999-2002 or 2003 (not positive on the years) are notorious for having problems. I don't know exactly how true that is but I've heard and read that many times.
A ski is going to give you soo much more riding time than any of those other options, except maybe if you just want to ride in spots where all you can do is flat tricks (no gaps, drops ect.) with a winch, but that would be boring. A ski is so convenient, good on gas, like a mini skate park (lip, i/o flats), and soo so fun!
My first choice when it comes to ways to ride (get pulled)

PrimeO, I tried riding behind a 25hp the other day and it couldn't get me up. I weigh about 175.
