so basically the ground in the pond is very hard. how do you recommend i sink them? would it be better to just build little a-frames with long bases and just put weight to hold it down? any help would be appreciated.

I use 2x4s and sledge hammer them into the ground works great for me, just make sure you make them have a point at the bottom of the 2x4 so it goes in the ground easy.

right now i am thinking about attaching the 4x4's to a really long 2x6 on each end and in the middle and just putting cinder blocks on the 2x6 to hold it down. any thoughts on that?

It will work but you will have to weight it down a lot cause it will float.

Do you have access to a hose or a water pump of some kind. You can wash them in.

no i don't. power washer yes, but i refuse to spend a ton of money on hoses to reach all the way out. i'd do it if i had to, but i am hoping the other option will work out.

how much concrete should i use for weight? 16' long, 2' wide with a transition on one side. i was going to use 5gallon buckets of cement, but how many do you think it will take

are 12 footers overkill? do you think a 5gallon bucket of cement on each leg(4 total) will be enough?

not trying to beat a dead horse or anything, but...just got 2 80lb bags of quickrete. how should i go about filling the 5 gallon buckets? directions for putting a post in ground are to put some dry conrete, then add concrete and water. im skeptical about how much mix to put in and how much water. couldn't i just put alot of conrete and mix it w/ water in the bucket and call it a day?

i was just going to secure the buckets to the 4x4's, not mount the posts in the buckets.
