Hey, my name is Ian and I am obviously new here. I picked up wakeboarding and wakeskating last summer and cant wait for the next season to get here soon enough. Damn snow.. Anyways, I have 80 acres of land about an hour from my house with a pond and a lot of open land to mess around on. I love the set up Nike 6.0 put in Ben Horan's back yard (3:11 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhsDLR0jjuU ) and want to make that exact set up or something very similar to it. My question is what do you like/dislike about it? Is there anything you would add or change? I have a couple months before I could even begin to start on it so I am just trying to get some designs sketched up. Thank you.

This wakeskating thing has gotten to me pretty good. I just traded in my 07 GTI to get a Baja for no reason except to carry my winch on. haha

I don't know how to go about answering that question, but I will try my best... Im a 19 year college student going to school for radiology who was introduced to wakeboarding and wakeskating last summer by my friend with a Malibu boat and was at the KCW cable park once a week who has access to building equipment and a sweet place to put a decent size winch spot at my family's property.

Now that I answered your question, can you answer mine, please?

ShutItDown, Are you going to do a earth start pool or build a wood box style?

Here some pics of my old Water Box Gap
http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=128044203&albumId=1434943

There's so many thing you can do... I'd try to do something different than everyone else's!!

Good Luck! Sound fun!

Both. Dug down about a foot and then a 2 foot side wall? The landing area will be dug only. I really like the steps idea for the gap. It really adds to the whole set up and makes it seem more like skateboarding. I was thinking about making the landing pool a little bit longer so that a flat bar or box could be added.

BTW those are some sweet pics. Love the set up.

i love the simplicity of bens backround stairset and matcing decline rails, and the metal removeable hand rail in the center, i think it doesnt need any addition..

the only suggestion i would make for you is make a large amount of run-up to the stairset and alot of ridaway.

Ian, welcome to the site, i really hope this gets made and i wish you good luck!

Thanks, I've been lurking for awhile but never felt the need to post anything until now. I havent seen anything about the removeable rail in the center. Do you have a link to it set up? I will have enough room to start and stop. A few of my friends will be learning how to get up so the landing area will be plenty long enough. On another note, Have you guys heard about the new Ridiculous Winch coming out? I saw everyone hating on them and how you should just build your own, but the TAV2 is discontinued and a hard part to find. I was told that they now sponsor Ben Horan and have been working with him on the new design for awhile now. GX270 engine, quick release spool, brake, rotated engine for better pull starts and exhaust direction. Should be interesting.

Build the winch. Use a centrifugal clutch for now. Once you get the winch built then set-up you property.

I bet it will be months before the TAV is produced again.

Well Ridiculous Winch bought as many as they could before Comet went out of business so they still have some left. They are also working with a company on the reproduction of the TAV2 that should be done shortly. I'd rather not use a CC since I would like to do some deep water starts at other places and have seen those burn up pretty fast.

my only input would be to make the rails/boxes removable so you can constantly switch it up if wanting to. I think that is key, and allows for endless fun Smash

I'd be down to throw down on some winch driving and gas money if I can hit it! I bet I could get a couple other people to come along with too... It'd be a nice lil change from KCW...

ShutItDown, I've heard rumors comet (or new name) might be back within a year. A company has bought the tooling and that.

Sounds good man. I will just update this when it gets closer to being done. When it gets warmer we should get numbers because I really don't have any friends that go to KCW with me. Its a lot easier to ride and progress when you know some people around you.
