So, this year I landed my first kickflips. I first learned them in the flats, after boat. And then behind cable. But I want to get more consistent. Now I make like 1 out of 10...
Last time I went out I brought my camera, and made some slowmotion clips. So here is a clip of how it looks when I fail.

When I make it, it looks the same, just a little less back weight, but still with a hand often dragging after me.
The things that made me stomp it the first time was:
footplacement like a normal ollie
soft heelside cut-out 2-4m
wait
let line out with front arm
wait
ollie
wait
wait
wait
kick it
back foot catch
land it.
I find the setup to be the key to this trick, coz I do not have any problem with getting the board around. What is my problem? back weight in setup? jerking the line? hmmm.
(when my body position is better than this one, I tend to spread my legs more, and then stomp it of course.) |

i cant k-eff but maybe you waited alittle too long. i know you want to flatten out, but also place an emphasis on thinking about edging away from the boat when you land _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." |

your feet are also coming closer together when you land, compared to when you start your trick. That was one thing I always had to work on when learning new tricks...making sure that my feet were wide apart on the board. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

It's really all about confidence and how comfortable you are with the trick. You can already do it so there isn't a problem in the way you are doing them.
It will just come with time, repetition, and how comfortable you feel on your board and throwing the trick. Eventually you'll be able to watch the whole thing happen slowly under your feet and be totally under control. |
