|
|
This reverse camber tech has gotten out of hand. I need a new board this year, (ive been riding a rome agent 155 for the past 2 years). I want to get a board with "new rocker" tech, but I am overwhelmed by the options. I went to a few stores yesterday to check out selection. I liked the rome pusher, the trice, the park pickle, capita indoor survival, etc..
However, I want to get the board that will be the best for what I ride. I like to hit the park, when the snow isn't so great, but it is not my main focus. For the past few years Ive been riding a lot of backcountry and getting deep in the snow, burying the agent...I spend most of the day hiking for powder, dropping cliffs, quick park tours and treating the whole mountain like a park. I like groomers, but Im not a speed freak. I like to butter, but Im not a box master. I treat my board like shizzle so it needs to be strong. The rome agent is great, but I want a twin that can handle powder.
Basically, if anybody could give me there reviews or opinion of rc boards I would be stoked. I don't want to just get a banana board because of hype, but I feel with a skate wake and snow background it would be really fun to try. |

gnargnar, dude i'd go with the rome...... rome's are one of the only brands that actually holds up under daily abuse
capita = snapita. i've broken a capita, my brother's broken a capita, my roommate has broken a capita. but on the other hand, scott stevens rides for them...........
my friend abolutely destroyed his skate banana and he doesn't even ride that hard, so i dont lib techs are that strong
and i've never ridden or heard much about gnu, but they're made by the same manufacturer as lib tech _________________ http://www.stickandflick.com

yea i like the idea of the pusher and what they are marketing it for, but I read some slightly negative reviews. Other people are saying the rc rocker bucks you out of riding rails and I still want to hit rails, so I am a little worried about that board. I have definitely abused my rome agent and it holds up pretty well considering how I treat it. So I do lean towards another rome for durability reasons.
Thanks for the input! |

I got a never summer RC board. sl-r model. Hands down the best board I have ridden. I have about 10 days on it now and I have ridden everything from nip high pow to park to slush to groomers to straight ice. The RC tech works. The banana between the feets keeps the float and makes butters and presses ridiculously easy. I can actually carve down the mountain while keeping a nose press. The camber tip and tails still keeps the board ultra responsive and I feel like this is the quickest responding board I have ever ridden. The vario side grip is essentially a 3 stage side cut or mellow magne-traction. It is a little squirrly at first, but once you detune it a bit it holds a solid edge hands down without any sketchiness. On the straight ice day I was still able to carve and not wash out too much. The only thing different that I might consider to be a negative is the way the board pops. The board kind of bucks you up; whereas on every other board I have ridden pops you mellow and far. It is essentially the same between a 3 stage rocker vs. continuous rocker on a wakeboard / wakeskate. takes one or two days to get used to. but it gives you more pop with less speed, which I think is a good thing most of the time...
I have riden alot of k2, lib tech and ride boards that are only rocker. I think having more contacts points on the sidecut is key when using rocker tech. Having camber in the tip and tails keeps the board fast and responsive for those who like to be all over the place and maintain edges and speed and not just pressing / riding rails.
That pretty much means for me that I would only consider never summer rc tech or lib tech c2 tech if I was looking for a fun all mountain freestyler. |

hah Greg, didn't mean to put down skiers at all. As a snowboarder though, I prefer to support snowboarders.
The factory built for the purpose of producing Elan skis is now making snowboards too. I think there website even boasts that they make great boards but never actually states which ones are made by them.
Rome is thrown together there, Nitro too. & if I remember right, I think Capita (or what Gnarly has dubb'd as "Snapita") is also made there. There might be another one too, I'll try to remember or find out.
For the same reason Gnarly dislikes StepChild decks, I dislike Rome. During my second season out in Vail/Beaver Creek, Rome hit the scene. I bought an Agent and the fckr blew up my first day riding it, no exaggeration. Similar to Gnarly's experience, I was just riding it under normal conditions but the rep would not even hear more than three words. He basically told me I was a punk and that I won't get anywhere lying about what happened. Totally turned me off to the Syndicate for life!!! Fvck Rome _________________ thrashdad.com |
