|
|
So I tried to land a body varial for the first time this weekend and I got really close, but never quite road one away. When I jumped off the board to so my rotation, it seemed like the board never left the water and that caused it to end up behind me when I landed. We tried slowing the boat down to combat this (which helped a little), but I know I shouldn't have to. When I watch videos online, the board is clearly out of the water, but I don't know how that happens. What's the trick to getting the board up without using your back foot? |

One_Wadey, what do you mean by pancake? I do flatten off (a few feet from the wake).
I'm def. pushing off with my front foot (I concentrate on almost no pressure from the back foot), but the board doesn't seem to come out of the water which I assume it needs to do. Does that mean I need to push harder with my front foot? I really only push hard enough to get my body off the floor, I'm not hitting it nearly as hard as I would for an ollie. Am I pushing in the wrong spot? I'm just shy of where the board starts to become the tail/head.
-=AlexXx=-, You seem to be one of the few that says to ollie in this trick. It would explain how to get the baord out of the water obviously, but I don't know how you get separation from the board then. Curious to hear more
Thanks for the tips guys |

Addicted, well, when i do them inside out, i usually ollie big, grab the heelslide of the board then push off with my front foot to initiate the body variel. There is no way i can grab the board if i push off with my front foot as if i dont ollie. doesnt make sense to me, at all. In the flats i do the same, minus the grab of course. I just kinda of ollie and just push off slightly with my front foot's toes and do the turn and lift myself off. All trial and error. Thats how i do it, doesnt mean its the best way, or that you have to do it the same way. |

When you push off, doesn't the board just move and not you? If you are in mid air and then push off with your front foot, doesn't the front of the board drop? I'll give it a shot, but I'm thinking it'll turn into a FS 180. |

Thats why i said what i said. Dont give the board a god damn karate kick like your going for a 3 flip or somthing, tap it with the your toes, just enough to get it off your foot then do the body 180. |

you're not really even pushing it down, just keeping it level like you would in an ollie.
Your front foot keeps the nose of the board from continuing to rise. You can do this trick by jumping off your front foot, or by doing an ollie first, it's the same concept. _________________ El Tiburón Rojo |
