Jsut start small and work your way up. Cut out and go flat and just push on the tail a little bit, just enough to get some upward momentum. Just keep popping it harder and faster (heh heh) every time.

you probaly had the same problem i had where the tail doesnt come out of the water? just push it down then hop up with your back foot and level the board off with your front foot then put even wieght on each foot then stomp it.

I'm no expert, but something I did to get the feel for an ollie was this: put your back foot almost all the way back on the board, bend your knees pretty good, release all the weight off your front foot and think about bending that knee up to your body, as soon as you release the weight off your front foot just do about a half jump all off your back foot. It might seem like you are going to come off your board, but this actually just forces the board down to make a ramp in the water where the board will come up with your feet.

I got it about a week ago. It so simple, I know what the problem was. I was too focused on snapping down the tail, I wasn't lifting my front foot enough. I guess I was concentrating too hard.

do most of you just lift the weight off of your front foot then stomp the tail with your back as hard as you can (jump like stomp), then suck your knees up?
is that the best way for max height?

colorless,
That is pretty much the idea, but the timing is the key. You want to do it in a rhythm and in control.

It is kind of hard to get used to, if you are used to doing a traditional ollie on a skateboard, but now that you have the concept in your head, with a little practice, you'll get it with no problem.

yeah, my ollies are weak, only 6 inches or something around that. i'd like to be able to get better height for some other tricks....such as the imfamous kickflip.
