Morphine nice pictures, so now that the cat is out of the bag you all can see what the bi looks like. I personaly believe it will be the most interesting time for wakeskating. Thomas said he has not felt more comfortable on the water in a long time. The deck itself makes things so much easier, the responce time from intiation to completion is incredable. He also said the ride on the water is like no other. So with that being said I will talk to him this week about maybe getting something rigged up for the EX, but no promises he is a busy man. And to answer the question about the top deck coming into contact with the bottom if you snap your ollies hard then it will.

If the top deck doesn't flex all the way down to the bottom... wouldn't the bi-level effectively be exactly the same as a regular skate with the kampus kick tail pads? |

Thanks Itch. You're right though. This will be a VERY interesting time for wakeskating. Thomas did look pretty comfortable when he was riding, and watching someone skate on the bi-level, it looks very smooth.
And not necessarily Livewire, the fact that the two boards are attached produces a fulcrum effect, as was said a while back. A fulcrum is one of the four simple machines of physics, all it really does is make it take less energy (IE: An ollie snap) to do more work (IE: The ollie). So in theory, you can snap your ollies the same and get more height. |

right, I understand that. But the the foam kicktails have the same effect. The foam gives. Instead of air inbetween the "two decks"... its foam. Now, if the bilevels have a lot of flex, then yeah, it blows my theory out of the water. The question is just that if the top isn't that flexible, then it seems like it would be equivalent to the kickpads. |

maybe I'm wrong on this, but if the foam gives wouldn't it just zap your energy? It's already been said that the top deck is 5-ply and is flexible, so just because you don't always ollie of of the bottom deck, it doesn't mean that the "fulcrum force" (or whatever its called) is not in effect.
A long time ago, that was one negative thomas said about using rubber for traction (meaning it will absorb some energy--take it for what it's worth though).
And this isn't meant to start an argument, but where did you hear that the rubber was supposed to give you extra energy? I'm looking at the kits right now, and it talks about achieving extra pop and board control. I'm just assmuing you get more pop from the extra leverage, and not the rubber. Isn't rubber a shock absorber anyway? _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

thats a very good point, I hadn't thought of that. I was just equating a spring with rubber since both "give." But yeah, you're right. I spring will go back to its original state while the rubber just kinda absorbed. Point taken. |

Morphine has it right the fulcrom is the point at which the machine(i.e. skate and mounting blocks) exagerates the energy put in.
Snow is completly right(as always) the foam actually takes a % of energy out of your snap.
Like I said this is a important time in wakeskating, I have said for the last ten years wake skates will legitize our BOARD sport.
Wakeskating is the future.

I kinda stood on it on land, and it's flexible enough so that you can actually be able to snap it down, but it's stiff enough so that you can snap the tail and the fulcrum will still work. It's kind of like finding a medium for it. |

Morphine, is it kinda like the snowskates with the short ski under it? _________________ P.S.... this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated |

are the two boards mounted in only one spot? wouldnt that make a difference when riding the board the opposite way, like after a shuvit. |

Greg, it's actually the opposite of a snowskate, instead of the bottom board flexing, the top one does. Also, the bottom one is a little bit longer and slightly wider. Imagine just a flat skate on the bottom, cause that's pretty much what it is.
Mitch, the board is mounted in two spots equally distanced from the edges. |
