SEPTEMBER 9, 2003
TEAM ACQUISITIONS

LOOK FOR SOME NEW TEAM MEMBERS THIS OFFSEASON. WORD ON THE WATER IS ONE OF THEM IS PULLING INDY TANTRUMS ON A WAKESKATE.

I found this crap on the news section of the hyperlite page...... Sounds like a lot of "Hype" to me, that doesn't really seem feasible. What do you guys think?

Humm on a wake if you want to grab your tantrum you need to round up your back and suck up your feet to bring the board to your hand... You dont grab the board and then start the rotation...

Think of it this way: a tantrum is like hitting a curb that will pop you around... In that scenario there is no way in hell the board can be kept under your feet.

Only possible way would be to grab it right at the bottom of the wake before rotating sideways for the tatrum...

Oh well, the one I see as feasable would be a mute backroll to fakie. Grab the board as you rotate off the wake...

stussy,
If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, the guy put a handle on his skate and would hold on to the handle before hitting the wake. It was a huge discussion on the old message board.

If that isn't what you are talking about, post the link so we can check it out.

Yeah, that was the famous "handleboarding drama" from the old forum...

It wasn't a tantrum, it was an indy-handle-back-roll.
This thread was so funny...
I still have the video on my hard-drive.

Are you talking about the secret Hyperlite rider landing tantrums?
This was like 2 months ago and there's still no video on the HL site.
You must be talking about the raley off the kicker video (at the Texas Ranch..?)

The the secret rider doing indy tantrums off the kicker is Brandon Thomas. He never landed one but got really close off the big red kicker that use to be at odub. What he would do was go up the kicker with a board in his hand, at the top of the kicker he would throw a tantrum while still holding the board. As he was flipping he would place the board under his feet and try to ride away. And like I said he never did ride one away.

David, yeah exactly.

Frye, just because the board isnt touching his feet doesnt make it a christ air. A christ air has to have the board held out to your side so your body makes the shape of a cross.

You could do any early grab. People dont accept them as much then grabbing in the air but its still classified as a trick, cheating a little bit i must add.

Back when people first started doing airs on skateboards, they would always early-grab, and when ollies came in, grabbing in the air was at first considered "cheating." Ironic, eh??
