How many Barrels?

I want to build a floating rail with banked sides. i currently have three Barrels, the barrels everyone uses for floating docks and rafts.
i want atleast a 16 foot sliding surface.
would three be enough to support the weight? i don't want it to sink at all when ollieing onto it.

I think you need at least 4 large barrels.

I have 4 50 gallon plastic barrels that I'm going to use to build a 20' sliding rail in the same way with banked sides this summer.

You need 4 because you need 2 at each end in pairs going length wise adjacent to the rail in order for it to be wide enough to support it and make it stable.

Yeah I think 4 would be good for 16'...I wish I had another 2 to put in the middle for mine.

If you can get more barrels, the better...even for shorter lengths. More barrels = more stability because you can fill them with more water.
