so im out on the boat monday riding with my boy niko and after my first set he takes his, maybe 15 minits into his run i see him jump the wake only to fall and when i circle around to pick him up hes screaming that he broke his leg. after pulling him into the boat and getting him back to the dock and calling the ambulance we find out he has a broken femur. he has now been in the hospital for 4 days and has a titanium rod in his leg. this is the worst injury ive ever heard of wakeskating and i simply cannot believe it happened. |

At the beginning of this winter.. my friend who wakeboards did the same thing trying a wake to wake on a skate. One foot stayed on and the other dragged. Snapped his femur and had the rod insert as well. Hes just now starting to walk normal. The x-ray was intense |

I've heard of this happening before. That one foot on, one foot off business is no joke. The other injury is of course, completely destroying your knee, which shaun murray and scott byerly managed to do on a wakeskate (one foot on, one foot off).
I hope your friend has a successful recovery. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

yo that happened to me.....at the time it seemed like the end of the world, but tell your boy not to frett cause it ain't no sweat. Compared to tearing your knee, ankle or lower leg.......although it is a much bigger bone, the femur has a fairly quick recovery≥(3months) the rod keeps the bone in place and walking is encouraged immediately. weight bearing promotes bone growth. alll your boy has to do now is basically build up the muscles around the bone. the longer he lays, the longer road of recovery he will have. stick with him and encourage him to hit his therapy hard. bests of luck and lemmme know if u have any questions. _________________ dbanana wrote:
