wouldn't waste the money. take a picture in to your local welder, buy yourself an engine from peavey mart and save yourself about 900 bucks. just my two cents.

That sounds like a smashing good idea. In fact, I've been thinking lately and I think we should all start building our own wakeskates because those are overpriced too. Pssh, capitalism...

Yeah, making your own wakeskate is kind of for tightwadds but that winch going for 1400 dollars is a damn scam. What the hell happened to it only costing 200 like they originally said, ha ha. I don't think the kind of people who want to use a winch are going to have the flow to buy one at that price.

I dont seriously think that there would be a huge market for a $1400 winch. they say, 'have a few buddies get together and pool your money together' hahaha...get real...

make ur own would definately be more fun...

We've tried it out on an old moped. Take the tyre off the back wheel, and tie on some spectra line. A winch complete with automatic gears, brakes and a speedo' to keep you around 20. sweet!!

holy shizzle, a moped is a good idea, ha ha. I have like three old mopeds that aren't worth anything, I think it's time I bust them apart and build myself a winch!

How does the moped not move when ur pulling a rider? Wouldn't the rider move the moped around on the ground?

Hey when you wanna be's create this abortion winch your trying to build tell me how long it lasts if it even lasts 1 pull. And when your done screwing around and you wanna buy a winch that will pull 600 feet of rope and a rider that weighs 220lbs out of the water come holla!

P.S. this is a patented product.

i dont believe anyone is going to be trying to sell it for profit, i think they just want to try it for personal use
Rolling Eyes

P.S. regardless of the price the winch is one of the greatest innovations in wakeskating... wish i was rich

It doesn't matter if you're selling it or not; if the idea's patented, it's illegal to replicate the item. I say save your money and buy the real thing. It's sad to me that matt and thomas were creative enough to come up with this and had the means and friends to produce it and make it a reality, and now everyone thinks it's their own. I realize I'm a minority but I don't care.

You don't need to be rich to buy a winch--save your money or pool it with your friends. If you can afford 500.00 for your homemade winch, be patient, save your duckets and buy the real thing. It sounds like they've worked hard to test and make a good, safe product. I want to purchase one in the future, but it's going to take time...

electricsnow, do you think that the german guys who invented the ElectricWinch a few years ago could now be sued by Matt and Thomas? Are you kidding?
Oh, and BTW, I typed 'german guys' and not 'german guy' because there is always a TEAM behind a product and not only one super smart person.
