if anyone gets the rolling stone magazine there is a short article about winching on page 70. but unfortunately instead of calling it wakeskating they refer to it as "bindingless wakeboarding". and then theres a couple quotes from kyle walton in there.

i'll give a brief explaination on what happened (why it is so short and no pictures) the article was first set to run a 5 page spread and in an issue that was geared toward sports.. the magazine industry is getting killed, so it was pushed back and was going to get put in the biggest issue rolling stone does, still a large scale spread. apparently rolling stone is having a tough time, the biggest issue of the year went to a normal size magazine instead of the typical oversized mag that it is and instead of having biggest issue that looks to be double the amount of pages it went smaller. so the article and all the pics were cut (apparently last minute) and i'm not sure who filled in the descriptions and what not, but i'd be willing to bet the guy that wrote the article didnt' do most of what you see.... that's all i know.. and keep your fingers crossed that we get a solid run at the Outside magazine spread. i'll inquire to confirm the latter of this post.
sd-

btw, josh letchworth's and jake slone's pictures submitted to RS were (still are) absolutely AMAZING... i wish i was at liberty to share, but am not.. hopefully they will show up on their websites or some wake publications.

Whats up with that pic in the article? So rolling stone doesn't have enough money or man power to cut and paste a decent picture to help visually describe winching?

They shoud have scraped the story all together and used the space for one of those cheesy erectile disfunction drug ads, or the place to get the latest puddle of mudd t shirt.

I'm "CRAZED" for winching Neutral

Sawyer,

That's a bummer..... From what I've heard a lot of effort went into that story..... Such is the nature of freelance journalism. You win some / you loose some. In the end, it's all up to the editor.

At lease winching is becoming more mainstream....

I guess my sarcasm was not very obvious.

I'm not a big fan of emoticons, but I guess I should have used one. Let me rephrase:

At least winching is becoming more mainstream.... Rolling Eyes

I think the sad thing is.....from what I've heard, had they run a full article it would have given more justice to the sport. It can be hard for one to write for a mainstream media publication without said publication putting a mainstream twist on an article....if that makes sense.

At least winching is becoming more EXTREME!!!!!

i'm no happier than anyone of you that reads it... actually you have no idea how dissapointed we all are... we all did our part, and things didn't pan out... all the way down to the editor calling photographers for permission to use shots... i'm sure at one point i'll talk w/ dave and find out what really happened...he's hard enough to catch as it is, i'm sure he wants to stop and explain this...
