deltarider, that drift sequence was pretty awesome

is this a real sport?

i know some people ride fixed gears in races for a challenge, but ive never heard of people attempting tricks on them

Ya, it's pretty big in the Bay Area, LA, and New York. But it's a lot of fun, easy commute, and you get all the ladies when you ride them...kinda.

Some of those were just single speeds, not fixed gears.
There used to be a bunch of emo fixed gear riders in my town so my punk roommate decided to take an single speed, strip the brakes off like a fixed gear but still ride with a free spinning wheel. That bike was a mess.

MattG, yep, that was the only way to stop. His shoes and tires both wore out pretty quickly. Laughing

Currently working on converting my old road bike to a fixed. Things are a blast and I love the simplistic nature of them. Now if only I had some more money to finish the job.

I'd be afraid I'd be flung right on my face because of the whole stopping thing.

I heard former professional snowboarder (and rawest, truest dude ever) scotty whitlake biked cross country on a fixie. Gnarlie!!!

you should post pics of your bike.

I will definitely be keeping a front brake on mine to aid in the stopping but it really isn't that bad to slow them down. Just takes a little getting used it.

LiquidForce71, I'm not scene. That's like me saying all the people who have a wakeboard brand as their Name on wakeskating.com are complete n00bs at wakeskating.

deltarider, i agree, i was once very n00b and now i have somewhat graduated from n00b, but everyone in my town that has a fixie is scene, or maybe just a new fad along with fixies, But im sure your not a scene kid and maybe im just making a generalization so im sorry if I offended you.
