thank you all for comments on the rail,,
we sesioned it when we put it up and it worked out great. we hit it flat for a while then put in the incline.. all worked very well.
there are a couple things i would modify but nothing big.
the part i found intersting was.. 24' was huge in my driveway, working on.. but once it was in the water.. it seemed small.
so 32' is the new mark i will be going for.

none of us shoot pictures.. or have a good cam. we took turns hitting it and on what became my last run.. i ollied on to 5050 slid out at the top and hit my shin and knee on the rail.. i had to stay in the water for a while because i couldnt walk and that ended the sesion..

we left it up at koppert and can go use it any time. when we have more time and resources we will go back and may have pictures some time but hitting it and working on sliding is is the goal right now.

i will post more when i get more, but the design and functions were all good.

thanks for checking it out and if your in the PNW send me a PM to ride.

"OLY riders" are off to CA for INT nationals next week..

wow that is a super sick flat rail, although it does look more complicated and expensive to build then others.

The first rail has held up just fine.
Although, the high winter waters of Koppert lifted it out and it floated around for a while till we pulled it to shore..
I disassembled it (by design) moved the parts and then put it back together in a new location..

We had hoped to do some night shooting with it but after setting up we could tell we still need to resolve some lighting and process issues. So, the night shoot has been postponed until we can put all of our duck back in a row.. this is the new (temporary) location of the rail.

The new rail/concept has many of the same features as well as some additions.. this should help make the set up go a little faster, smoother, longer and other “er” things.

I am in the process of building 8’ sections and these sections can be put together in different ways to change or to make any length rail.. (sound too good to be true..)

I have designed and will incorporate a connecting system that will allow me to span longer gaps with less post, keep strength and simplicity.. the system should be manageable and take a little less time to set up which =’s more time for.. (fill in blank) the connecting system will be sort of like “hot wheels” track (note: not pictured yet..)

So, instead of having to install a vertical post in every 8’ I should be able to bump out to 10-12’. For a longer rail I will use less vertical material than previous but work just as well.

So far all of the wood has been recycled and I have not had to purchase anything. I had screws around but that may be a cost at some point. There will also be some other costs such as, beverages, snacks and bribes for filming and photography.. oh, and the trex!! Instead of using the 2x6 deck boards I have used the 1x8 trim boards.. it makes the rail I bit wider and lighter. (there are other options for topping it though..)

I will have to show more of the details later but this is the project as it sits now..

I will update this stuff as I can and hope to have some video and shots by the end of summer..so, please be patient and ask any questions you have.
The next update should show the connecting system and some other details..

Enjoy, and happy shredding!!!!

That trim stuff works pretty good. My local lumber yard has a stack and they'll pretty much just give it away.
