I am building a wakeskate soon but i still have two questions. First, what wood type would be best? Iv searched and iv found that maple or some other hardwood would be best, but i cant find any in my area. I have heard of a few using plywood, but even watersealed and varnished, wouldnt water still get in? What would type would be best?

Also, can i use wood glue, or should i use epoxy only?

I used 4 layers of 1/8" think russian birtch plywood which cost me about 10 canadian and a 2 part marine epoxy which cost me about 70 canadian. There rest didn't cost me anything cuz i made it in wood class. And it is completely watertight

but if your not into woodworking or you want to ride soon i wouldn't try to built one yourself. its probobly better to buy one.

what did you use to press the wood? I think it wouldnt be hard to make your own board if you had a good way to squish the four layers really well... and maybe a 5 gallon pot filld with water on a big fire to steam the wood for the concave bend. maybe this just me flapping my gums.. but wouldnt that work good for a home made??

i built a Mold or a jig then used resin to laminate the layers together
then you put it in the jig and clamp it down. let dry over nite
take out and cut out the shape you want and star sanding it is real easy

If you need help I can send you pictures
email me @ jaysin@thewwsa.com if you want to look @ them

WWSA, Ya thanks, I just added some bevel and a drop shadow. The shadow looks gay so I am going to redo it.
