I have a Sony Hi-8 camera and it came with this really cheap editing program but does anyone know of any other editing programs?

firstly, what type of computer do you have? Secondly what are you capturing through? USB or Firewire or a RCA analogue capture card?

I started on Adobe premiere 6.0 pretty easy to do basic edits. It also has a lot of capabilities for technical edits. Personally i can't stand PC's anymore since i move to the "dreaded" MAC. I use Final Cut Pro HD and that app. is off the hook.

I am having the same problems. I'm using an hp pavilion computer and my hi-8 camera is capturing thru USB. Would I have to connect it with something other than USB to have better quality? If so, what would it be. By the looks it seems like Vance is using hi-8, if you are what editing program do you use Vance?

LFfool246,

Yeah, I don't think you can get hi-8 w/ firewire.

As for editing programs, I use Windows Movie Maker 2...it's free and it works pretty decently...takes some skill (I call it the Paint of movie making software) but once you get used to it, it's alright.

well, I use Pinnacle Studio 9 with the AV/DV adaptors (the ones you use to hook it up the the TV) and i get great quality. And the Pinnacle Studio is a really great editing program too. Very Happy

If you want an example of the quality, go into the skateboarding forum and look for my video.
