These are baby toadstools from my 120gallon reef tank:

taku, yeah its pretty cool, esp. when all the lights are out. But we ruined the powersupply, it seems like you have to replace the mineral oil every so often. _________________

I love salt water tanks. We had a 250gal until huricane charlie. It was the worst watching ten grand worth of fish and reef die |

Awww Charlie was so bad for your area too. In north east orlando we were without power for about 16 hours at my house (some people for 2-3 weeks though). I lost a few fish from the main reef tank and some coral. That yellow tang in the last pic I posted above, was literally on the sandbed laying on it's side gasping for oxygen when the power came back on after hurricane Charlie. That was the first saltwater fish I ever purchased... I bought it in 2000 so this year it's 8 years old. Lucky fish. _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |

| Our yellow tang was the last thing to die...we were without power for 4 days. I was going to rebuild, but i just couldnt put that much time, money and effort into another tank. I really like your desktop reef tank, i would like to do something like that maybe |

I totally understand, it's so much work and money to rebuild an entire setup like I'm sure you had in that 250g reef. What were the dimensions of that tank?
The desktop tank is glass bow front... made by JBL and was only $37 if you're interested in one It comes with a 9w 50/50 light and mini filter. _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |

taku, impressive.
Is it hard keeping everything balanced with such a little amount of water? _________________

If Charlie would've gone 15/20 miles North, my whole island would be gone.

Nah, it's easy to take care of when you understand cause and reaction of life in there. I have a mini heater in there for temp control... I add water to replace the water that evaporates once a day, and I don't feed the tank because there are no fish or shrimp... so I can go longer without water changes.. _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |
