Alright this is the most ultimatly cheesy topic. But give a shout out if you ride at owc. I went there a week ago (i am from indiana) and the stuff was sick compared to what im used to riding (usually im stuck in doors staring out the window at a frozen lake). I just wondered what the normal scene is like? is it all jocked out....does everyone listen to linkin park? Help me disprove this misconseption _________________ ::REVOLUTION CONCEPTS::

its a mix of every different type of riders that exist. theres the hardcore wakeboarders, the 13 yr old grls trying to do hop 180s the whole time, the kneeboarders , bad ass wakeskaters, havent seen any posers that wakeskate just ones that wakeboard. then theres the 6 yr old froggy gonnabes who do tantrums off the picnic table whose dads run to where they fall to get there and tell them what they did wrong. last time i went there was a lot of girls wakeskating and i was like damn, shes hot, shes good... hmmm i think i love you j/p. uhhhh no not everyone listens to linkin park, at least i dont think so cuz i still do but anyways... my 2¢

che blanc, whats the big deal about knee boarders and skiers, they have there own cable to go on, they don't bother you at OWC. I would hate to see your expression if you ever went to Rixen, you would die of a heart attack after seeing all the kneeboarders, and skiiers that are there and in the way. . But ya, che blanc is right, OWC has alot of diversity in the riders, in what there are. |

yeah i'm with vance. i'm more in the suckin catagory but it don't matter i go out to have fun. stay out of the way and try not to suck. just progress my riding. as far as everything else goes yeah there are all those others but they useually don't get in the way just try not to hit up a busy day and you should be fine! linkin park is still cool but try out these bands: taking back sunday, yellowcard, thursday, lost prophets, the used, and the get up kids. diversity from mainstream _________________ showtdit rider |

i dont think ur a poser if u rnt that good at wakeskting. i think its just if u go up to people and talk a whole bunch of shizzle and then u go out and ride and u cant do half the stuff said u could then thats what makes u a poser. |

naa a poser has that army hat like thomas with a cassette shirt and DVS's on and they're all like.... "yo man, can you kickflip? i've been coming close." and then you ask them to ride and they're like... well today is my switch day so dont think i really suck this much im just riding switch. ...hmmm i've actually never heard of a poser in wakeskating, usualy people pose to be cool. i know us wakeskaters are dead sexy but... its not like main stream enough to have your poser group _________________ <3 mmmm |

Ah I get a few posers down here since I started telling people about it. Not many, although I was pissed when I gave this guy some free pulls and he couldn't get up on the damn thing. |

I always thought a poser was someone that basically wore the gear but didn't really ride. I personally know snowboarders around here that were hyped on forum and bought that whole set up, but barely rode (and they even had a season pass). You know, they wore the t's to school and talked a good game, but they really didn't ride (and when they rode, it wasn't all that impressive).
I try not to care because they're spending money and possibly supporting some good companies in the industry. And at the end of the day, if you're as into wakeskating as you say you are (the general "you") then you're not even going to have do deal with "posers" very long anyway (they'll quite before you will). And it's something that's unstopable, so why bother.
But that label can be so subjective anyway...I've seen a few different definitions on here already. But basically, I hate that word because it's ridiculously judgemental. Tom Gilles said something like "a real snowboarder won't call another snowboarder a poser." _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
