winching in a river?

i live on the susquehanna and i was wondering would i be better off winching across the river(sideways) from shore to shore, or up the river and have the winch stationed on one of the many islands?

find a nice little lake or pond to winch in thats not real deep so u can make some rails and have fun with it. we use the boat in our river and winch in a littel pond thats like 800 ft across

Bonis69, go long ways on the river.... so you can walk it out instead of swim it out...

If the river flows alot u could winch up the river and thendrift back downwinch up again and it would be awesome
