Does anyone have any email contacts to submit photos to magazines and an idea of how much they pay?
Thanks |

Who are you planning on submitting shots to? It's always a good idea to start off by emailing the email addy listed in the publication and introducing yourself and asking what the guidelines are for submitting stuff...then take it from there. The email alliance has listed in their wakeskate mag (since it's online and I don't have to be any farther than arm's distance from my beer) is mail@alliancewake.com. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

alliance pays 50 bucks a pic, or at least thats what I got for daves on deck pics. I got 100 for the grandma gap spot or not pics. Look up all the mags and find an email address for one of the editors. Let them know what you have pics of and ask if they need anything in particular. Just email them constantly with new pics. O and always share some of your stuff with the rest of the people around here _________________ "Well it's like, if you want to be a better wakeskater, you don't go hang out with a bunch of roller bladers." - David Hanson |

Limit your submissions. After you find your own best pics from a given shoot, open up the publication that you are going to submit the shots to and forget about the fame and fortune for a second. Ask yourself if you honestly think that this picture is as good as what's goin on in the magazine. If you think so, great, you can now begin to think about submitting the shot. If it isn't then try to figure out what made those other shots better than yours, and then go back out with your homies and shoot it again with some new ideas in mind. Because you're takin pics for fun, right?
I don't mean to come off wrong and kill your stoke or anything. I just don't want everyone reading this to think that it's acceptable to fill up someone else's work email with 4,000 high-resolution pics a month, because it isn't. Send only your very, very best pics. This is especially important if you're a new face on the scene, because if you continue to hit up a photo editor with bland, boring pics that aren't exposed correctly or whatever they might not really put down what they're doing to open your email. And, I mean, why should they? If some dude has emailed you 3,983 different pictures over the past month what are the odds that these next 14 shots are gonna be epic? I'd bet against it.
Now I'm not saying this is exactly how things goes down- I just wanted to bring up a very exaggerated scenario to illustrate my point. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

Scott_a, so true!
In my experience, every mag is a little bit different, but pretty much the same (if that makes sense?). Editing your photos (i.e., picking out the best ones) is like editing your own writing. It’s hard. It’s best to have a trusted friend help pick the best ones.
MOST IMPORTANT RULE!!!!!! Don’t send the same photo to multiple sources. Try to give one mag first right of refusal before shopping it somewhere else. If there’s one thing that will piss off a photo editor is to go out on a limb to publish some kids’ shot just to have it printed somewhere else. Ghey!
Be patient and persistent. Personally, I think being patient is the hardest part.
