Pros and online forums

pros do look at these forums and I have to say that they dont think there all that great.... heres wat shane bonifay said about a thread I started on wakeboarder.com.... like he said people turn a positive thread into and mean a negitive one... the topic I made was called shane or parks and I wanted to know what people thought who was the better rider and who had a better style.... but instead people turn it into.... well just read it

It is sad to see a pro talk so negatively about something that is so very much a part of the sport. I'm not sure how often the guy looks at any of the forums, but if he only looks at them when he hears that there is a bad topic on a forum about him, then I can see why he feels the way he does.

Sure that happens....but there are also a lot of good that come out of these forums. A lot of people have hooked up and became riding buddies via these forums. Events have started on these forums. New companies have started on these forums. Kids get sponsors from these forums. Etc...etc.

I would like to see more pros participate on the forums and help improve the atmosphere. Not just hide behind fake usernames and bash them in magazine interviews.

Yea there is way to much crap that goes on in these forums, ppl hating on other ppl. Its one thing to hate on someone who comes on and makes stupid coments about things like tellin everyone to f off and stuff (I amd thinking of a recent person from wakeboarder.com) but its another thing just to always talk about a kid cuz they are simply 13 and show it, you were 13 once two you know. but overall I think these forums are a great thing and I benefit from these alot.

Much more good goes in forums then bad, naturally pros who are insulted aren't going to like forums for that very reason alone.

Quite a few pros read forums, most just don't post.

i just think shane was using that one topic as an example of the bad that goes on in these forums not calling the whole forum bad.He was saying that if someone is not very educated in the sport and psots a quesion that may seem stupid to you people automatically jump on that person and start criticizing. I understand exactly what shane is talking about. I'm not saying that they are aall bad but people especially on wakeboarder.com have a tendency to be more negative than positive
