my winch is rusting

I should know this but are there any ideas on combating rust? My buddy took the Grinch to Corpus Cristi ( dont you wish you had me as a friend) and the salt water just killed.

olderish post i know, but get it all sanded and repainted and in the future when going to salty areas, or anywhere for that matter, keep the vulnerable parts lubed up with WD40. it literally means water displacement formulae #40, it will help keep the parts from oxidizing
