your gonna slide just the painted wood? I dont know what board you're riding, but wood boards, in my experience, tend to be somewhat sticky when sliding just wood. If I were you I would screw some 1 1/2 or 2 inch pvc on top so you dont get mess up. numb, is that in wisconsin? jw

I have teh ultimate ghetto rail in my back yard, it's a kicker and you push it way down in the water and slide the side of it. It's a two in one!

I am confused Is that a rail or a launch ramp.
I had one just like that in front of house when I was like 7.

My cousin and I built 2 rails about 4 years ago. They were both shaped like this:
_______________
/ \
/ \
There were 2 of those huge blue barrels inside, and the sides were entire sheets of plywood at about a 45 degree angle. The ends and top were two side-by-side pieces of 4" pvc. (the ends were slanted up and then the top was flat, so it was like a pyramid thingy) It looked sweet on the beach, but didnt live up to expectations in the water.
there is no shallow area to dig it in, so we towed it out and let it float accross the lake as my cousin tried to hit it(on a board). It flipped every time it was hit. we tried flooding the barrels, but lost a cap, so one end slowly sank when it was tied to the dock for storage, and there was no way to pull it out of the water to drain it becuase it was so heavy.
after flipping over so many times, the sides broke off and were towed back to the shore, then the ends started breaking off, then it was useless, and sat at the beach for 5 months. we ripped it apart (what was left) and made the same one next year, but a little bit more flat, so it hopefully wouldnt flip so much, but that also failed miserably.
no more attempts have been made since then becuase the owner of the beach doesnt want to store it.
thats my rail story.
