Ugh... At this point in time those crooks need us more than we need them. _________________

That's cool. I hope there is a widespread boycott of participating in the Olympics by skateboarders. I remember back in 98 when Terje Haakonsen called them the mafia and said that he wasn't going to participate. That was great. _________________

I dont think having skateboarding in the Olympics will make much of a difference on the amount of people (posers if you will) who join the sport. _________________ Llamas are better then Alpacas

It's not just that though. I just kinda find it wierd that the Olympics will hold events like that. It's like when they added snowboarding to the winter Olympic. The Olympics are meant to showcase an almost dying breed of atheletes who take part in sports that are not mainstream anymore. Skating is for the X-Games, it just works better that way. |

I agree, if skateboarding has to be anywhere, it should be in the x games. Skateboarding was always anti jock and laid back, and now they're being mashed in with a bunch of steroid pumping meatheads...it just doesn't fit. Were there any skateboarders lobying to get into the olympics??
As for terje, I really respect him for standing up for what he believes in because there are so many out there that don't give a damn, or just won't do what he did. Definitely a snowboarder with a real heart... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

this will be probably be good for skateboarding because for of the skaters to get better money they need to get the sport out to more people same with all the other sports. |

^^^^^^ uh no! skating has no place in the olympics, and the skaters don't need the publicity. Kids are still gonna plop down there rent's money on new shoes, and the latest thps17 mars edition.
"Wow what an amazing race, those runners have really got there a game today, next up exterme vert challenge featuring Tony Hawk"
Oh and by the way, most pro skaters make a very good living. And if you have your own shoe, Bling bling |

Just to clarify- no pro skateboarder or company (to my knowlege) has ever said they wanted any part in the olympics- the olympic kooks are the ones who want skateboarding. People who don't skate or know anything about skating except that it is profitable. It is a parasitic relationship. _________________

For wakeboarding, it's the waterskiiers that are trying to get the watersports (slaloming, wakeboarding, whatever) into the olympics. Although, at the end of six pack, parks was quite keen on having wakeboaring in the olympics. ANyway... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

RUSSIAN, yeah the top ones might make a good living, but all the people below them probably don't and in order for them to start making a good living to it needs to be more public so bigger sponsors might see the appeal and want to sponsor them, so when they can't skate anymore they will have money to live on. |

freerider4, the top pro's are flat out rich. The middle guys are making a real good living and the rest are are living decent. Even ams make a "living" these days. About 3 years ago, the average pro(with a shoe) was making 10 to 20ish a month(thats sponsers only, not contests). Thats alot more then most people make |
