Heres the frame and parts. All I need now is a spool and rope and I think I'll be getting 600' of bulletline.

I have to say thanks the TheLeprechaun because I used alot the his design that he posted with my spin on the base, legs, and engine mount. I'll post pics when its all finished.

Stoked

The front legs are going to have an axel running thru for wheels and the back legs will have the eyelets for staking it into the ground.

for everything so far i'd say it cost just under 700$ CAD plus the rope will be another 200$ plus shipping and I need hubs for the spool.

I could have done it for a lot less if i shoped around a little more i think.

JB_CANSKATE, That thing looks rugged, don't paint it! I like the rustic look, are you using a brake? Nice work.

Once I have it all put together an tweaked so that its running nice I'll decide if
I want a break. Its really all about $ at this point becuase I have no job and no time to work really.

JB_CANSKATE, save on the brakes man, I don't really see a point on a winch. I wanted to put some go kart disc brakes on mine (found some nice ones for 20 bucks on ebay) but figured it wouldn't do much so I just droped the idea of brakes all together.

yea brakes are nice for winching tight spots but in the long run you dont need them... i dont have brakes on the winch i built and do have them on the grinch i own... having it is definately nice but not a necessity

I just have seen how the rope wraps around the shaft sometimes and I don't want to have to deal with that. Hopfully my roller is close enough to the spool that that doesn't happen.

Thanks for the input fellas

Yeah it's true it can be of some use in tight riding spots... You can always slap one on later on if you really see the need. I know I probably will in the long run just to have one lol, whenever I'll get my hands on some Smash

i love the brake on my winch. for me , its really nice to have. If you are hitting up a rail, or riding in the surf its great. when you fall the handle is right next to you. If you dont have a brake the winch operator has to kill the engine and it will suck the rope away from you, maybe 20ft or more. that means you gotta swim to get it Smile

winching is fine without brakes of course, its just a nice thing to have.

i wouldn't know- the brake on my grinch broke the day after i got it- shoddy construction galore
but it still works- its really fun when the handle is flying at the driver at 22mph and slams the handle leads through the roller fairlead and sometime snaps the line!! its great watching the driver duck and cover Laughing
