I'm assuming you mean in the flats and not wake to wake?

If so, when you first start trying it, scoot up towards the front of your board. This will get more weight in the front and will keep the board from popping up off of the water when you jump up. Also rember that you will be moving forward, so you will need to jump to where the board will be. Try to do it quick at first and practice on the ground at home before you take it to the water. As you stick a few and get better at it, start to move back on your board and let it pop up high out of the water. It is a lot more stylish. Good luck and have fun.

I wouldn't do them full stop. Seriously, out in the flats isn't that good. Do a shuvit or a big spin and it would look better. Just don't do them is my tip.

yeah taking off your frontfoot may seem weird but it makes it sooo much easier. i could pop em real high when i was just ollieing and spinning , but it is soooo much easier to take off the front foot. the board won't go everywhere and it'll stay right and cleaan beneath ya.

Fredrick_Eisenhauer, why do you say just dont do em, are you too good for a body varial seriously what tricks are you throwing. and something that makes a big spin possible is a body varial. so i mean all a body varial is, is a stepping block to bigger and better tricks

no no i totally understand they are a lame trick. but they are a building block for bigger and better tricks and serioulsy what does it hurt to learn them they actually are good becaues you finally start to learn to land tricks switch. they really do help you and i suggest you learn them because they are a hard trick at first but once you start to get better at wakeskating they bocome easy

Parky, yeah I know in another thread I told you that a 360 is the building block for your boardslide 270 out but... you have to admit... that trick is alot harder then a bigspin.

Joey I never said I was to good for body varials. And what does it matter what im throwing down for me to decide what is and isn't a good trick. I'm giving my opinion on what I think he should do, weather Parky chooses to follow it or not I dont care. Mellow out you dont hafta go off.

I dont think it'd be as good as a kickflip out in the flat. Turning your body in the air has no real appeal to it, unless its done with anothing trick.

thats what i think about manuals, boring by themselves but when u combo in and out of them it can be a really cool transition and look really smooth if done right

but to put them into combos you have to have each part down by themselves...So you'd have to have your body varial down.

Not that this would ever be feasible on a wakeskate, but if it would be, it would be pretty damn insane. I have seen Kerry Getz, a pro skater, do a kickflip to a late shuv it. Like as he catches the deck after the kickflip he is pushes down and flicks it into a shuv it. I think maybe a body varial or a 180 with a late shuv it might be more do-able on a wakeskate.
