Let's get this rolling.
Italy wins. Boo. I wanted France.
I thought France really played the better game. Especially at the end. They had so many opportunities, just could not get a decent shot to save their life. Then with all their stars off the field, get beat in pk's. It sucks, but I guess that's soccer.
Then, of course, Zidane's red card. Just absolutely crazy. Came out of no where and he almost got away with it. I know it was way out of line, but I have a feeling Materazzi deserved it. I just can't see Zidane doing something like that, at that point in the game, without a good reason. Hopefully we can find out what was said in the days to come.
However, I thought Zidane played a great game. Of course there was the crazy ending, but he still made some magnificent plays. Even after taking some hard hits. Chipping the keeper on a pk? Ridiculous. In my eye's, he is the best player in the world.
Let's hear your thoughts.

What a way to retire for Zidane Who headbutts anyway?!
Pretty funny though, how Materazzi flew off his feet so quickly
And too bad Henry got injured

My first thought when i saw it, was that Materazzi must have said something to really piss off Zidane. Because there is no way he would ever do something like that in his final professional game. Theres definatly more to it and im sure in the days to come we will find out why. I hope.
Im not even a france supporter, but i was hoping they would win, i hate the italians! haha

That was hands down the most entertaining Final I have ever seen.......awesome!! Zidane's PK in the first half was sooo Dope!!!
And yes....who headbutts??? I'll tell you who does.....Red-Blooded men, aka HEROES!!!! That was HIGH-LARIOUS!!! Talk about ending your career with a big "Faw-Q very much!!!" I was never much of a fan of Zidane; I like him so much more now......
In general, this was a GREAT World Cup. The Rooney/ Christian Ronaldo bs, and now this.... So much drama....I love it!
South Africa is going to be Interesting......

to say you didn't expect that from Zidane means you don't watch enough soccer my man... He has done this kind of stuff multiple times in the past (when he was with Juve 4 or 5 years ago he did the same thing... and I can remember at least one other time when he went got ejected for stepping on someone)...
I'm with you JohnnyUtah... I have more respect for the guy, went out on his own terms IMO (I believe he knew exactly what he was doing) But I bet he was still expecting to get a win out of it.
All I've gotta say is there is no way I'm not going to be attending a world cup in the near future... (either South Africa or Brazil.... or both )

France is dirty...
Last two games their only goals where from fake falls in the penalty zone...
Zidane is infamous for cheap shots and talking shizzle on the field... look at his history stomping on players backs and head butts... Cool man, way to end your career... Zidane got what he deserved.
Italy earned it...

I think France was the better team on the field today, but Italy did what they needed to do to win, and that's all that matters.
I wouldn't call Italy the cleanest team in the world either... I think them and Portugal took more dives than the rest of the teams in the World Cup combined. Some of their play though was incredible, Allesendro Del Piero still amazes me with his touch over the ball and finishing capability (see the Germany game) and even with the final (on an undeserved PK), the only other goal they allowed was an own goal.
Can't wait to see what goes down in Euro 2008, which is the next big set of International matches.

haha.
i just love the first picture posted on this thread. red/white/green flag, and then they have blue and gold jersey colors. france had sick jerseys, and zidane is definitely a dirty butt pirate. but he did give birth to a new avatar
and i think i wanna punch eric wynalda in the face. i cant stand him at all. great world cup, though. there were definitely a TON of good games.
