Recently i have been blessed with the inability to use my left arm for any purpose whatsoever. I have lost my ability to drive, wakeskate, play guitar, or even hold a magazine right and things have been getting difficult. Lately i have been on heavy painkillers and seem to be drifting in and out of reality quite often. My situation could last me a while but i do not want to sit around all summer just feeling like shizzle. I was wondering if any of you people could reccomend some good movies, books, CD's, or just anything that i could do to still have an enjoyable summer. wakeskating and guitar playing have basically been my life for the past two years so to be suddenly taken away from these activities is driving me insane. hopefully in a few weeks i will be able to at least start filming wakeskating again and at least be around the sport i love. im still trying to figure out ways i can still help progress the sport without riding and any ideas are welcomed. this site is probably one of the only things keeping me sane as my pain medication is kicking the hell out of me. Cool

Mr. Top Hat, As far as books go, check out some of the classics. You've probably read some if not most of them but books by H.G. Wells (War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man), John Steinbeck Of Mice and Men, The Winter of Our Discontent, Grapes of Wrath), Jules Verne (Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) are all really good. I especially like The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. Although it is short, something has to be said for a person who can write a book over 100 years ago (1895) and still maintain a social commenarty which is applicable today. I personally really like books that are old and provide a view of what people thought the future might be like so that's why i really enjoy most of these. Of course 1984 (By George Orwell) is a great book as well. You also can't forget Animal Farm.
Another one of my favorites is the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. It's pretty much just entertaining, no social mockery or analysis. If you're into Brit-humor at all, definatly worth a look.

DoubleDown05, i still want to do that. just need to wait till i can funtion a bit better on my own.

Slyder, so many greats that i have to reread. Jules Verne is probably one of my favorite authors, i read Journey to the center of the earth in the eighth grade and was just completely turned on to classic science fiction.

Most people look at me odd when i mention books like that. They just seem like books that you are normally forced to read in class so nobody pays any attention to them because it's not the DaVinci Code or something. I also really liked the Great Gatsby.

Books:

"The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien. If you haven't already read this, do so immediatly.
"The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien. It's so much better than the movies.
"The Silmarillion" by J.R.R. Tolkien. If you liked the Hobbit/LOTR, then this book is for you...but only if you're really bored and really like Tolkiens stuff.
"Crime and Punishment" by Fiodor Dostevsky
"The Brothers K" by David James Duncan
"Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad
"Captain Corelli's Mandolin" by Louis de Berniere. The books is way better than the movie.

"Stadium Arcadium" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
"How the West Was Won" - Led Zeppelin
"The Wall" - Pink Floyd
"In Your Honour" - Foo Fighters
"Start Something" - Lost Prophets

I learned i can play my lap steel guitar today with some pain killers. i had an old les paul tuned to an open G sitting in a case that i was able to just kinda sit on my lap and play. i can only bend my arm about five inches so i can only use the slide on a few frets but it helped save me from insanity.

Good luck with everything and hope you pull through.
