anyone have any info on the new Remote? seems like some called it a flat deck, others a hybrid, and pics basically look like just a normal deck with a mellow concave. interested to see if it costs less or whatever.

The new hybrid board looks awesome for people getting into the sport. It's basically a normal remote but extra thin. So it still has the grind base, urethane rail, and concave. And it's supposed to retail under $200.

Hopefully it will intrigue new people to give wakeskating a try, especially at parks since it's so cheap yet can handle features.

ya thats how the pics looked, which makes it sound like a wood Integrity. the lunch tray skate lives!
but in all seriousness, sounds like a great idea. I wonder if the only thing that would deter a more serious skater from it is the potential to break it a lot faster b/c of how thin it is

I have never understood the point of flat decks.

great option for newbies not wanting to drop $340 + on a starting skate. Probably better to learn on than a traditional flat deck

Its not really a flat deck.

It has a little concave. The board looks fun to ride I tried getting one at Surf Expo but Nick sounded like he wanted both that were there.

Feels like the construction is the same as a Remote but with less plys and a mellow concave.

Nick post up that selfie yo.

@WakeMitch great to meet you brother!

Id rather see bombproof concave decks that people will sell on.

I've done that with one of my old remote decks and i think it worked better for the recipient than buying a flat deck and upgrading 3 months later.

I was trying to get one too!! Still seemed pretty sturdy and had lil bit weight for such a slim board.l'll definitely be getting one for the kiddo's when they release them. Smash

Having a price point "entry level" item in the line up is a successful business model and has been proven in many different industries.

I think its great.

ben we came to wakeskate, can you say more about the hybrid? What's the dill?

I think Jake S is right on. It's nice to have another quality option when most reasonable wakeskates cost, what? 349.99. All of them!

Also, yan is pretty boss! I want to ollie like him.

electricsnow, Ever since I joined up with Remote, I've been pushing (persistently & annoyingly) to get a flat deck added to the lineup, because I remember when I was a grom & wanted to learn how to wakeskate, there was no way I could afford a $300 deck. My original goal with this idea was to get a quality Remote flat deck on the shelf for under $90, which is something I'll still pursue, but our engineers at the factory started experimenting with simpler construction techniques & came up with a low-profile concave that still has our urethane rails & new bombproof bottom sheet, but since it takes way less time on the CNC table & a bit less material to build, we're going to be able to put it on the shelf for around $160-$180. In the end, it's not quite a flat deck & not quite a pro-level deck, so we named it the Hybrid... After riding it at Area 52 with the boys last week, seeing & feeling how rippable it is, I think it's going to be one of the most popular boards we've ever made.

=)
