I haven't received a new issue in almost 4 months I think. I thought they came out every two months. Are they done printing magazines already? I hope not because I loved the magazine.

I feel like Fun Razor showed up at my door less than two months ago. I could be wrong. Could be that they've just been tied up with the tour and trips.

I don't know where they're at, but it seemed--based on the tone in that last issue--they were struggling without more reader support in the form of content and such.

I keep my issues in the envelopes that they are sent in. The last issue that was sent to me was mailed on or around 3/15. The issue was 2.6 and the envelope contained the Fun Razor DVD.

Anyone read what they took down? They were saying how the events had a wakeboard mag come in with money and knock out the wakeskate mag? After all that "support rider owned companies" stuff?
They're talking about the wakeskate tour right?
They just took it down, was reading all the salt 10 min ago. I should have screenshotted the thing :/

So....just to be clear are we talking about the Wakeboard Mag or Alliance here??
Either way, just want to figure out which one doesn't support wakeskating.
Are they talking about Silas flipping the switch?
Who wrote this?
All important questions.

Can they really ban them from setting up a tent... considering that atleast 2 stops for the past 3 years have been on a wakeskater's private drop.

I think it's interesting, only because whatever magazine won out clearly didn't have that radical of a presence because nobody on here knows who it is. I can't even think of seeing a tent in the videos, or having that name mentioned anywhere as a sponsor/supporter. I guess in that regard, that kind of positioning didn't make that big of a difference for whoever it was...
I guess I'll play the devil's advocate in this...
I love that wakeskating has a media outlet like the wakeskate mag, and I would absolutely support them and still have their link in my signature. And there are aspects to their attitude that wakeskating absolutely needs--riders that are actually involved and stay involved--they help make it a lifestyle (I'll make a separate post about that). But they also know there aren't always bro deals when it comes to media support. Would you guys (WSM) give away a free ad to a brand of some sort that in turn promoted you? I'm not even saying you had or have to, I'm just saying I'll bet the opportunity arose and the answer was no.
In the end, the wakeskate tour and the wakeskate mag are both businesses, in that they need money in some fashion to do what they do, or do it the way they envision themselves doing it. If it was just for fun, you wouldn't even bother with ads, you'd just have a blog and post whatever. but you care about presence and doing things a certain way, and that's good. it's called professionalism.
Look at the payouts for the riders on the wakeskate tour, how far down the line a rider can get a check, and what the prizes were like this year. Again, I'm all about wakeskate specific media because to be blunt, all of the wakeboarding mags are sucking when it comes to wakeskate coverage. Completely. But the wakeskate tour is also supporting riders, and they've built things to a point where wakeboarders are actually like, our tour sucks, we need something like the wakeskate tour. That's a huge compliment to how they've done things. Yes, it's all a shiznackle situation, it's hard when you're friends and you feel like you've been let down in a few ways...all I know, or believe, is everyone still wants the best for wakeskating, and the wakeskate tour's media presence extends so far beyond any wakeboarding magazine.
And the wakeskate mag can bring so much more to the table than focusing on what people on a tour did to them. You guys know what you want to see, so then keep doing it. It might not be a print mag, but you still have the potential to promote wakeskating the way you want to see it--the wakeskate tour doesn't determine that. The reality is, money was probably an issue with the mag well before being denied tent space, but this is how something else can take the blame for it.
*end old person rant*
