I had totally forgotten about Union. I have never read it before. I just got the digital subscription right now to check it out. |

Pretty Sweet was released in the fall right before Thrashers SOTY award as well as in time to be fresh on people's minds for the TWS awards. Obviously it was planned to be released then.
I was hoping for a spring Human Rocket release to get me pumped for the season, and Good Ratio can get me through the winter |

Why not just make a WS mag Skater of the Year. More of the wakeskate community would then have a bigger input on who wins. |

Bally, we had picked a SOTY last year and a few other "awards." It was only half-serious and more of an applause for wakeskating having such an incredible year 2012. Eventually I'd like to get more of the community involved but I think it's just going to take time for us to grow enough to where we can throw legit events like that.
Like Esnow said, the wakeboard mags only give out 2 wakeskate awards every year, so The Webers was our way of giving recognition to everyone out there that's still pushing wakeskating but may not be putting out video part of the year or winning the tour. We will be doing it again this December (Or January, we haven't set a date) and look forward to having a good time with it.

I'd love to see a big deal out of the "Webers" if it'll be called that. Hopefully not. SOTY could have a cover. etc. That would be rad. |

Flat decks.
Will we ever see these things again? Something made with some quality that will last more than a few sets. Something you can pick up for less than $130, Doesn't ride like shît and is a perfect entry board for a boating family.
Cassette always had a flat deck line.

Flat decks only make sense for companies that have large distribution and are in shops in my opinion.
I think obscura is doing a fine job with flat decks. |

wakemitch, I wasn't aware obscure had flat decks. I figured it was branded as LF.
What's the price on them?
I just see the flat deck as the easy add on sale to the family dad picking up his new boat for summer. Cheaper than a wakeboard, doesn't require specific size bindings so its almost one size fits all for first timers. And if the price is right it's not a big gamble if they don't like it. _________________ Scuba Steve's Wakeskate Film Libray |

I shredded a Cassette flat deck for over a year and I was diggging it for suree.
I also used to shred a k39 back in the day that was wild! I progressed a lot off my flat decks, but in this time in day I dont think people will be able to get the pop and board feel, which is key.

Does anyone else get frustrated with cable park speeds? I normally ride at 24 mph behind the boat/ ski and every time I'm at the cable it feels so hard to do anything. My board doesn't want to leave the water and I have to work way harder to get any height on my ollies and shuvs. Think the local park pulls about 19-20 mph. _________________ Scuba Steve's Wakeskate Film Libray |

Flat decks are crucial.
Steven M, Have you tried asking them to go faster? It makes riding cable way more fun.
POPTART, Every time I see your comments bemoaning something to do with wakeboarding, I have to wonder why you spend so much time/thought/effort keeping up with strappers to begin with...
matt_rodgers, I haven't really seen very much of it at all lately, but do you think it's more to do with the angle or with who's point-of-view is being presented? I'm all for experimenting with different angles, but there's only a few wakeskaters who I'd like to watch from that perspective with any sort of regularity. Obviously, like most things, it has a capacity to be overused & abused for it's novelty, but I'd love to see a bit more of it from certain riders... Also, I've got a little stash folder on my hard drive full of clips from this year, when I've taken one pull at every spot with a gopro in my mouth & I was thinking about posting a little mash-up, but now I'm not sure

"Full-length" Instagram POV edits are the future. By the end of next year, no one is going to take the time to put together a real part.
