Anyone have any aquariums as a hobby as well?

Salt or Fresh?

Should post pictures, and help me out cause I am starting my first salt tank and will have plenty of questions!

I had a 50 gallon fresh water tank for years...

I had live plants, some fingerling bass, crawdads, tad poles(until they grew legs), perch. Come to find out that local "wild" fish were WAYYY more of a hassle to deal with than store bought. But it was pretty cool to feed the bass once they got big enough to take out a gold fish. Eventually had to let them go in a local pond once they out grew the tank.

daniel, Sick! Definitely planning to do this if I eventually get a bigger house, don't have enough room for one right now. I've been wanting a salt tank for a long time.

When I was growing up there was always a fish tank around. My dad is a marine biologist/botanist so a fish tank in my room was something I always had as far back as i can remember.

We never got in to salt though because they were so hard to keep back in the day. Modern filters and equipment make things a little easier now though from what I hear.

Good luck! Any particular kinds of fish you're looking at?

I am probably going to go with the good ol clowns for starters. I got a smaller nano tank so can't fit a whole lot but figured it would be a good start. also wanting to get a shrimp and goby pair cause they look like they would be cool to watch. I'll update with pictures as I go. Wish I was still there, would be easier to get rock sand etc

Sounds sick! Definitely keep us posted. Maybe it'll get me motivated to find some space at my place.

GnarShredd, you have me motivated to brew. I had to decide between this and brewing and went with the tank. brewing is next.

So I got the tank setup. I ordered ocean water online and it came with everything at the perfect levels. Hoping it will cycle fast and start to get some thing in it!
