So as you guys know, I've been the noob around here for the past month, bothering you guys with my questions, and finally found an awesome board because of you guys. Well, earlier today, I finally got on the water for the first time- and it was GREAT!!

I went out early in the morning, like 8:30, before any other boat traffic was out. I went to the calmest bay I know of, but sadly because of the wind, it was still a little choppy. I hopped in the water (which was a little chilly at first), and decided to try the "board on water" method of getting up my first try, because it seemed more similar to wakeboarding. I told my driver to hit it and got up on my first try!! It was great. I love the feeling- much looser and surfier than wakeboarding if you ask me. I even tried popping some ollies, and my spotter said I got the board airborne... which is better than what I expected so I'll take it! The next try getting up I actually fell forward haha, but I told the driver to pull me up faster and that did the trick. I also tried the "board under water" method, and I think I actually like that better.

One thing I can also say is man, that took a lot out of me. I was so tired after! I don't know if it was the fact that it was my first wakeboard/wakeskate run of the season, or the fact that it was my first time on a wakeskate, but I am so sore. Also, wakeskating seems to hurt a little more when you fall- but no pain no gain right??

Anyway, I have many more questions to come... but I feel like those should be left for another post. This one's just my thank you to you guys for being so awesome and helping me so much! What other sport can someone post in a forum, and get professional advice from one of the greats in the sport? (I'm talking about you, "Cody").

So thanks again everybody! I can't wait to get back on the water next weekend!

I'm sure it does! I am so pumped to keep riding, it's just so awesome. No better feeling than sliding around on that thing, it has such a different feeling than every other board sport I do... I love it! Now I just need to start improving, but like I said, I'll leave those questions for a future post Birthday

Totally awesome! I'm glad you made it out and it went well! Wakeskating's a blast and the challenge through learning is totally worth it.

hurts more when you fall off a wake skate??? ill take wake skate slams all day but one thing that gets you on the skate is the damn griptape can sneak up and remove some meat.

have fun and work on locking down the basic riding before you jump into tricks, ive got a bunch of friends ive gotten started and my gf absolutely schools everyone in basic riding yet they are trying ollies, shuvs, kickflips, and who knows what yet they can barely get up and ride straight, they have no idea how to edge or use the handle or the wake or anything lol

Rootar, yeah the grip tape was scary, I'm also a little worried of the wakeskate shooting out and hitting me in the head, or my head landing on the skate haha. But yeah, I think wakeskate slams (at least basic riding, I can't speak for massive W2W jumps) are worse than wakeboarding, my guess because the board isn't attached to you to take some of the fall for you. On the wakeskate, when you go down, it's just you going down haha.

But yeah, for my next couple trips up I think I'm just gonna focus on riding around. It seemed like I was doing this pretty well (I'm guessing because of my wakeboarding), like I was able to cross the wake a bunch and really go wherever I wanted to, I even tried a few of those really-sharp carves (what are those called again?). But like I said, the feeling is totally different from wakeboarding, so I have practicing to do!

He is the new stoak ! I also cant wait for that first shuv landed post!

Happy for ya dude!

Sounds like you had a blast!
I also think that it is important to spend time edging in every direction regular and switch, and spinning in every direction.

Heels/ Toes
Sw heels/sw toes
Frontside turns and backside turns regular and switch

It will go a long way for you. But most importantly have fun!

POPTART, I plan on trying surface 180s next time I get out, so I can start riding switch. I do have a few questions about them, but like I said, I'll save those for a future post, maybe when I get home Very Happy
