so what are the standards for being featured? i know this wasnt made by wsm but that was legit. and it seems like the featured stuff is the more legit stuff/not reposted? i might be wrong on this. tad?

Every time I make a post like this, I get bitched at or called out, haha. Apparently I'm not allowed to have a voice in wakeskating because I don't deserve it.

senza wake, I'm not sure if I fully understand your question? Are you asking why this wasn't in our featured category or why we don't post other people's videos?

Our "featured" content is work we've created ourselves or collaborated with other filmmakers/photographers to produce. Submissions will usually go into our photo/video sections and/or Riff Raff. Jordon emailed me yesterday asking if I would post a Tanner edit they had just finished. Whenever I get a video submission, I watch it and if it seems web-worthy, I show it to Dave and Kyle. We take a vote on it and if it makes majority, it goes up. Our primary focus (our standards) when we started the mag and current focus is fresh, quality content. Other "magazines" will post every submission they get because they are desperate for content. The whole reason we started this project is because we felt the previous people voicing wakeskating weren't cutting it, and that's because none of them were wakeskaters.

As much as we hate doing it, we turn down videos all the time. But every time we do, we give feedback to the editors/riders to how they can make their videos better. Cut sketchy landings out, take it easy on the slow mo, is that dub-step song serious? Some people (Jordon being one of them) will re-edit their videos and submit them again. Others will blow us off thinking their videos are all-being and post them on facebook or send them to the wakeboarding blogs. Some won't even give us the time of day and submit them straight to the wakeboarding blogs. And all of that is fine. We aren't haters or arrogant dicks, we just want what's best for wakeskating. We want wakeskating to look good. We're a new site, a new magazine just trying to get on our feet. Who are we to say what wakeskating should look like? That doesn't mean we aren't allowed to have our own "image" or "vision." We've all been doing this a long time and we have a good idea of what works and what doesn't, and at the end of the day, we're going to support people who support us. It's a mutual relationship and we can't build this magazine on our own. There's no denying that. We love our advertisers, our photographers and our riders. We all have really good relationships. If wakeskating wants to have a legit magazine, we all need to work together and it's not going to be easy.

There's a ton of people out there killing it, but if they send in a video that was poorly filmed and edited, I'm still going to turn it down, I don't care how many sponsors you have. In case you (not you Senza) haven't noticed, wakeskating has been taking a few drastic changes over the last year or so and will continue to whether people like it or not. We are The Wakeskate Mag and we're working seven days a week to better wakeskating. What are you doing? (Not you Senza.)
