No Hate

You know what i've noticed with wakeskating? Theres not allot of hate. Like if you go on youtube to look at skate videos, or any sport for that matter, there are all these comments, "You suck at skating" But wakeskating there isn't really any of that. Maybe thats just because wakeskating is just so small. I don't know, still a cool thing to think about.

The only thing I dislike is the lack of people in wakeskating that speak up and go against the grain. It eventually just makes everything stale. If everyone keeps stoking out the same videos with the same people doing the same tricks, wakeskate videos are never going to progress. I don't care how HD your camera is. [cue the “as long as you’re having fun” copout]

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with artsy videos or fun edits or not landing new tricks every day. I'm definitely not implying hate is good or videos should be filmed a certain way, I'm just saying sometimes opinions need to be heard and sometimes those comments can ignite a skater to push themselves to do something new. I feel the same way about my work. If someone doesn't like the way our magazine looks, I want to hear why. If people don't like my photos or videos, tear them apart, it's only going to push me towards improvement.

Youtube is full of 10 year olds and middle school drop outs anyway. Head over to Thrasher where it's not an option to post anonymously and you'll see kids still aren't afraid to speak up and voice their opinions. I'd hardly call it "hating" and it's never just "you suck at skating."

It's when there's different flavors like strawberry or raspberry mixed in with the regular lemonade. It's a totally new adventure for everyone.

tad, I'm a fan of constructive criticism too, and maybe "you suck at skating" wasn't the best example of hate. I was sorta referring to people talking down each others riding for the sole purpose of feeling better about their own. Weather that be on a video or not.

Hate should have no place in any part of wakeskating. Showing distaste or unsatisfaction toward someone's riding or editing is one thing, but for someone to "hate" any part of wakeskating is absurd to me. If you can find something you hate about wakeskating you shouldn't be a part of it.

I hope hate never finds its way into wakeskating. I suppose that is a high hope though.

I think your 7 years to late...... this site uaed to be a lot of fun and was filled with contraversy. I personally contributed to it in both positive and negative ways, as well as a lot of others. For the most part wakeskating is young and kind again. Guys like myself are to old to care and the kids that are in to it are to young to know better. Proof of this lies in this communitys unability to disagree with anything integ/mutiny related......... and now that nicks left, remote related. Im not saying you have to be a dick, im also not saying you have to be constructive..... its just a bu,mer these boards see 20 new post a day....... but back in the day when myself, lemons, a.reed and others were posting i would put that average at 120 post a day (litteraly). Anyway...... have fun at christmas with your family..... im done pooping and have to eat.

I think the reason is because we're all peace-loving hippies at heart and love anyone who like wakeskating too much to disagree. And this is where the choir starts singing "you've got a friend in me" Very Happy

its because people dont suck at wakeskating anymore its easy to hate when everyline was just bs bigspin to pop shuv but now we have huge winch spots and laserflips, you cant hate on dat

I like what's being said. It's like Lester Bangs said in Almost Famous regarding a lack of criticism. "It just becomes an industry of cool."

To me it's healthy to have criticism in the sport.

dirtyohioriver22, I think you're confusing your opinion with fact. You may not see anyway someone could not like a laser flip but its not my favorite trick to see on a wakeskate and huge drops are impressive to me but I would rather not see more than a couple in a video part. I don't post as much here anymore because when I was a kid, I would argue my opinion to the end of the world with whomever wanted to battle, now I'm a lazy old conformist. I like to think of myself as an ex Internet baddasss, but to some of you I could have been called a hater.
