Why is this sport sooo hard...been at it for 3 years and I just don't progress lol. I've tried about 100 shuv it's now and I've only landed ONE! I watch videos and people don't even do shuv it's in them cause it's to easy.
I watched a Sea Doo instructional video by Ben Horan and he just makes it look so easy...i do it and bust my shins, do the splits, land on my face, you name it.
I don't like good people. I'm jealous and envious of you all.
End of pointless rant. |

Hmm that could be the problem...I do think alot when I try stuff. I'm thinking about the rope, foot placement, you name it. Even if that was sarcastic I'll take it. |

That literally the advice that made me start landing big spins, after 2 seasons of trying them.
I was putting way more effort into it thus throwing my body into a whirlwind of uncontrolled chaos. Now I can land ONE almost everytime I go ride.
geissap, keep trying buddy. _________________ if theres no future in it, at least theres a present worth remembering.

Yea it's crazy like I'll stick almost every rotation I just can't STICK them. My feet are always too close, or i'm too far back or too far forward. I just can't get the position right. The one time I did land it I was like what the crap did I just do. How did I do that...50 tries later still haven't stuck another one. My wife would pull me for hours happily...that's one good perk I have! I might try something different next time. Inside out 180 or something maybe. |

you're doing it wrong.
But seriously. I miss every shuv I think about. but every one I just throw without spending 2 minutes thinking about I stick, perfectly.
Same with w2w, and just about anything else. _________________

throw 180's all day man just enjoy yourself less focus on one thing will make it all come around. im nothing special but try some butterslide shuvs there a little easier and they'll help you figure out the spin of the board and yea you gotta have your feet a little more spread out to land cleanly. Trust me everyone started out with the little stuff like that _________________ http://www.elevatedclothingco.com/ |

Muscle memory, the more you try the better you'll get, don't give up. Just go out and have fun; thats what this sport is about in my opinion. Not gonna lie when I'm trying a new trick and come close but can't seem to stick it I get frustrated. _________________ You make me want to punch a baby!

Only 100 shuv attempts? You obviously havent ridden enough. Ur wife must not like pulling you that much.
Every week dude, ride as many times as you can. If it seems like too much....well just wait till you start landing them consistently. You will never get enough! It will be all you think about....It will consume you, but thats whats fun about it too. If not, well then screw it and have fun with what you got. In my opinion just hangin out with my girl on the ski doing a little riding is pretty sweet too.
Get out and ride homie, like now, go land that 2nd shuv! |

You guys are pretty much awesome. What's hardest? Shuv it, 180 or body varial? Guess it's probably debatable but thots? |

geissap, I can't body varial, but I'm sure for some people it just comes natural. 180 is definitely the easiest if I had to pick one. Just ollie and pull the handle to your back hip, land on your toes. I've been riding for like 3 or 4 years and I'm still 'getting better' at shuvs. I can front shuv all day but I'm lucky if I land a back shuv. lol have fun with it bud _________________ if theres no future in it, at least theres a present worth remembering.

geissap, it's crazy how something like adjisting your feet, or paying attention to where you look an make a huge difference on a trick (at least for me). When you try your trick, pay attention to how it feels and what's working. Part of wakeskating is problem solving. Personally, I think wakeskating can bring out the best in people--it's about not giving up, trying new things and trying to do them the best that you can.
I think a 180 is the easiest, then a body varial and then a shuv. My first trick was a bv because I was just getting off of a knee injury and was afraid of doing the splits. And i still fall on that trick.
You should record some attempts and post them on here if you want some help or advice. Like others have said, it can get so frustrating when you fall and feel like you're not figuring out your trick. But it's so worth it when you do figure it out. There's definitely a sense of accomplishment there. Good luck and have fun! _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
