Gnarly Dancer 42, Didn't you ride an integrity at one point? Aren't they more expensive than Remotes? |

Remotes have been $369 all year. The Taylor is the same price as all 2012 remotes. The 2012 remotes are made different from the previous remote skates.

Anyone else think $369 is about 150 too much for a wood skate? _________________ www.unicornofthesea.com |

TTUFAN24, we've been over this brah. the new remotes are going to be priced this way out of the gate. eventually they drop a bit but right away they're going to be a little more expensive.
blame the economy.
BUT on a different note: they' not bombproof so.. you're welcome? :p _________________ You had me at meat tornado. -Ron Swanson |

Anyone else think wakeskaters are inherently cheap? I think 370 is reasonable for a board if it lasts more than one season (which the new remotes seem to be as durable as anything else) and if it retains its value well (a la Integrity/Mutiny). Obscura's are a steal around 200$, but the ones in the past did not seem to hold up more than a season with regular use. I haven't seen a 2012 though so I can't comment on the new ones but have heard promising things.
Hell Stu's CWB is $300 and is made in China... but I've ridden one at the cable, and I don't think that board gets the love on here that it deserves. Definitely a clean shape that seems to hold up pretty well. |

Im with senorbueno,
Snowboarders and strappers pay that much or more most of the time for a board with that much technology. Vertically laminated core, sidewalls, and a good base. The price probably is just based off of what it costs them to build those boards. |

senorbueno, I'm far from cheap. I'm actually idiotic about how care free I am with my money. Am I wrong or are they by far the most expensive wood skate on the market? _________________ www.unicornofthesea.com |

I don't know if they're inherently cheap...it's just how people always tried to do things, and wakeskating was always presented as a minimalist thing. Read old thomas horrell interviews, and he talks about how his goal was to keep wakeskating accessible. sure, eventually cassette sold bi-levels, but thomas knew that the great majority of his sales came from the more affordable boards (like flat decks).
It's the same spirit with pwcs, tinnys, and the winch...accessiblity, affordablity, etc.
But it sucks to have an "affordable" board fall apart. that's when it stops making sense. So it's cool that other people are trying to make wood wakeskates modern and sensible. The remote isn't your typical milled or pressed conave...it's not technology from 2002 (in wake, anyway). Yes, you have to pay more, but I think you also get what you pay for in most cases. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

All about what you do with your board. If you take care of it, it will take care of you. _________________ www.kcwatersports.com |
