any idea how to check to see if mine work? they are seem clean and in like new condition, but i've never messed with anything like these before.

mojo, I am no expert but open it up and see if everything is in tact. If everything looks good, track down some film and give it a go.

Google image search all the text on the camera to determine the make and model. Then search the interwebs for the kind of film it uses, how to load/unload the film, if it uses a battery or not (if so, replace it), and if it has a light meter (if so, how to read/use it). If it does have a built-in light meter then you'll have to test it for accuracy, and if it doesn't have a light meter then you'll have to get a hand-held one off ebay or whatever.
