i cant get the board the pop at all. whenever i try the board just stays pretty much at the same place where i tried to pop it and i fly forwards without any chance to stick it. to be frank, the board doesn't turn around either...

i don't have a problem with ollies.

anyone have any ideas how i might improve my bs shuv-its?

try try and try again...but also-
cut outside the wake like 15 or 20 feet,

right when you get out there square of your soldiers with the board and look at your feet.

Throw the shuv mostly with your back foot so it pops, just like you se youre back foot on an ollie.

thennnnn stick it

what helped me landing any type shuv, 3shuv, front and back, is always watching the board spin, and doing a "ninja kick" make sure you spread you feet enough apart, and not have them together when you land. another thing to make it spin a lot better is what Drieck16 said, spin mostly with your back foot

try hanging the toes of your back foot about an inch off the board. it helped me get more of an upward scoop for shuvs and 3 shuvs.

what helped me is leaning back a little because when you shuvit you want the board to travel in front of you before you stomp it. remember your traveling somewhere around 20 mph so notice when you straight ollie how far your board travels through the air before you land. now think about how when you do a shuv you want the board to travel about that same distance arcross the water in the air before you land.

also you want to scoop the board with your back foot using more pressure with your toes.

so edge out, flatten off, lean back on the tail a little, bend the knees, then pop and scoop the board in front of you all in one smooth motion.

hope this helps it helped me, have you started landing them yet?

one piece of good advice i got was after you cut out from the wake, wait for the board to settle and flatten out before you go for it. it will seem like forever, but if your nervous and rush it while youve still got an edge in the water it makes it harder to keep the board under you.

It also helps to learn this trick or practice it over and over on the carpet with your wakeskate or a skateboard deck with no trucks on it. The concept of scooping it in front of you since your traveling fast is a good concept to keep in mind, that concept is almost a rule of thumb for all other tricks that involve the board leaving your feet.

Get that motion muscle memory down on carpet since you only have so many tries on the water Cool

remember to keep that handle in tight too when you throw the trick

Don't pop the board good enough or keep the handle out and you'll fly forward. Lean too far back and you will slide out the back when you land.

one of my buddies suggested i take the fins off my deck. could be that the board is getting stuck in the water and it'll flick out alot easier with them off?

cboy905, that's what i thought too...but I just got them on lock with fins Smile It probably does turn easier, but you can get them just as consistent with fins

at first my problem was focusing on the pop too much...i was wayyy too worried about getting them high. That caused me to not put enough effort in the shuv, so my spins were inconsistent. My thought was, if you get the board high enough, it should have enough time to spin....didn't help.

If you have that problem don't forget about the spin. Pay attention to your back foot! After you have them consistently, eventually they will get higher Smile
