Greg T, thats a sweet ride for sure, nice work.

I think they look pretty sick, and I want one, but I don't need another bike lol--I think I have 5 now... I was in India for two weeks recently and actually considered buying this style of commuter bike that was so popular over there, and then shipping it back.. the shipping would have been three to four times if not more than the bike cost Laughing

For road riding i have a colnago...that i am in love with Very Happy

LiquidForce71, why always use breaks? To each their own. I ride a road bike, a cruiser, a single speed mountain bike, and soon am building a fixie. Not building it because it's cool now but because they're fun and I'm finally gonna live in a place where I can ride everywhere. Each different bike gives a different feeling, just like different boards, so why not enjoy them all!

stompin9s, super bummer and yet super awesome all in one. Sorry to hear about your bike. I had a schwinn road bike stolen from me last year, and it's such a shiznackle feeling. Your new ride looks nice and plush. I bet she cruises well.

We should get a general bike thread going because bikes of all forms are freaking sweet and usually have some good stories to go with them.

people sound like kooks when they say fixie, call it a fixed gear, or when necessary, a track bike. cruising the mercier, green, 55. taking a nice trip this summer with some friends, strictly bikes and tents for a week.

cassette941, I agree. And that trip sounds awesome, especially if you add some skateboards.

so lame

get a bmx bike , or a mountian bike, or a trials bike
they are for tricks ....

its like the uncoordinated kids flatland bmx

rofl

and three years later i order a single speed track bike , living in chicago

wtf has happened to me Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

i can assure everyone and myself that i will not be doing any tricks and posting them on youtube

just a streight flat 6mile commute to work
and 6mi back

bought it cause someone stole my bike this morning Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

so now i got a no name single speed crate headed this way for $250
which is cheaper than any walmart bike , or anything decent on craigslist
spent another 150 on two kryptonite U locks
so hopefully no one will steal this one

the kicker is that i had my bike in my closet broke down , put it together over the weekend (ive been on the waiting list to get a bike spot in my building for 6months...yes 6months and finally got a call from the new office manager who is finally doing her job and getting back to all the request --she tells me i can put my bike in its spot tonight! Laughing hurray!)
so i take my trusty old red down to the street lastnight after slapping the wheels on it chained it to the light in front of my place

woke up this morning and it was gone Evil or Very Mad

fcking lame

so i guess its time to get new bike and way better locks
and now i actually have a parking spot for it

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

i never actually thought about these things 3 years ago
just never occurred to me someone would have to be on a waiting list to put a bike inside Laughing

POPTART, your ride looks pretty neat! the red tape on the handlebars make for a nice accent. now just get rid of the reflectors and put some decent platform padals with pedal straps on and you're good to go.

well for safety reasons im going to keep all the reflectors
the cars in the city already dont look / look cool and get hit
i have to wait a bit and i think im going to put some shadow conspiracy pedals on it (red) and some velcrow straps
but its just now in its first stage

it came stock like this

i am waiting to flip flop my hub from freewheel untill i really have a good feel for the bike (and my legs are ready to always be pedaling)

but i like it
been putting about 12miles a day commute and im already faster on my bike than riding the bus or train to work

first step is new tires
then new pedals and straps
then maybe play with the gearing

but yeah going to keep all the reflectors and lights on the thing i can
