Sagittorious, destroyed your engine shaft??? what did you do? pics?

if you ever break a bolt when its in, you've gotta drill a hole into the broken bolt and use a screw/bolt extractor... like one of these. There the best $10 you'll ever spend

Did that then broke the extractor off inside the bolt inside the shaft, tried to drill that out and broke my bit. This build has been one of the most difficult experiences I have had to face a good while.

You're going to have to take it to a machine shop and get them to try and remove it now Sad . Ezy-outs are super hard but as you have found they are also brittle. The better sort are the ones that have straight flutes, they don't seem to break as easy. More than likley you'll never be able to drill it yourself.

Update: back at it after saying screw it last season. Last weekend we got to work grinding down all the welds and going back over them just to be safe. Took the engine to a machine shop they said it was shot and they couldn't get the bolt out. Went ahead and ordered a 7hp duromax yesterday. I'm hoping to be finally finished with this project by the end of this month! We are going to call our winch the Franken-winch, and yes it will be florescent green! Smash
