I just saw this and thought it was pretty interesting. Not the biggest bangers, but still a decent video.
It looks like the whole team is now on wood concaves. I have never liked Brandon Thomas' style, but i like it a lot more on a wood concave. Thinking back on it, he has always ridden more unusual boards. I wonder if bilevels will slowly fad out now since less and less pros are riding them. Even Aaron Reed is back on a wood concave.

I also think its cool seeing a skateboarder like Jeff King wakeskate and hear what he thinks about it.

I saw this earlier and thought it was kindof boring. I liked the tap on the front of the boat though lol

texasT, yeah its hard to compare it to videos coming out recently. There are so many AMs that are killing it. It kind of sucks that wakeskate teams are so small because there is only room for a few riders and those spots are taken up by pros who have been around the longest, not necessarily the guys pushing the sport forward in terms of tricks. Obscura has built up a really sick team and has covered all the bases in terms of different riders in my opinion. And Remote has grown a lot and seems to be competing more with the big companies now. they are able to show outsiders what is going on with wakeskating.

integrity/mutiny and oak have had really good teams over the years that constantly push wakeskating, but most people outside of wakeskating.com will never see it.

Exactly wakemitch.
I guess when you're a pro people expect crazy videos instead of just solid rides. I know I'm not skilled by any standard but it was just kindof my opinion.

I like BT on the Byerly team. Fits him better. I also like his style off the Blend.

POPTART, agreed. The fact that he is backed as well as he is frustrates me.

It just comes down to the fact that they have been in the game forever.

I have never really felt the Byerly team to be honest. I have met a lot of them and they just seem cocky to me. The only cool guy out of that camp I have met is Kallas and the kid rips retarded hard. I agree tho that there are so many kids out there ripping so much harder than those guys and they should be compensated for it.

Byerly, Grubb, and BT should be put on some Veterans team or something and they need to get some fresh riders in there for sure.

yeah dude rode the byerly heritage when we first got it into the shop, i wasnt a big fan of wood decks until i got onto that one. i like it much more than remotes, and obscura decks to be honest. the board had a nice pop, and a good weight to it.

i will say that when byerly came to knoxville and took ppl out , i thought it was cool , he was nice, gd was nice, the demo was great , to see gd ride is some aweful water and shred harder than anyone ive ever seen was amazing

they do deserve credit
but i would think that with the backing, the history and their presence they would be pushing groms and pumping out more for wakeskating than the same 4 guys doing the same 8 tricks

POPTART,
Case and point: I remember a certain one of our friends (think curly hair) saying that BT was a turd when he met him. This same friend became amigos with a much less backed pro (whom he met at the same time and in the same cirumstances as BT), and has been invited to ride with him more than once. So, it would seem that the people with less backing are doing more for the sport.

Jama, tru, but i dont take his opinions with much relevance Wink love the kid but like i said i think they need to be respected, its just depressing when people decide to use their backing for personal gain , instead of giving back to what got them where they are

- two side notes
-if we are to be analytical we must have all the facts ( i know there is a lot about this group that we don't know as in how they give back)
-i can understand that as one gets to their point in the industry, it could be very hard to use someone else's money(their backing) in the way one might deem appropriate

My reasons are as follows:

1. He has not influenced wakeskating in any way that earns my respect, and he actually seems to be pretty far from the direction it is currently going. This in no way makes him a "legend" based off of his long history in the sport in my mind.

2. He isn't a good spokesperson for a company. I think he thinks it's cool to sound like you have a speech impediment.

3. He gets a free boat, while as far as I know Dieter, Stu, and others have to buy their own.

4. Hunching over does not equate style. It looks forced and overly contrived.

5. He could at least be nice. That should be the basis for anyone who is endorsed by any company.

Im only talking from personal exp.

BT was actually way cooler than GD or Byerly when I met him but I think it was only because I was bagging on the Indie music they were playing. I just think that with the money and resources those guys have they would be more inclined to get kids on their boards and get kids riding. Making videos and finding fresh shredders. Seems like they are happy with being stagnant. But who am I to say I wouldnt be the same way. If I had a board sponsor, shoe sponsor, boat sponsor I might want to keep it all to myself too. I mean come on these guys have fiznackling headphones sponsors. Of course they think they are the shizzle.

Actually, I do think it has been fair or at least closer to it in the past. When those guys were still relevant, they deserved the sponsors they got.

Lords of Dogtown were not pretending they were in a rap video.

ive met bylery a few times, once a demo when i was like 13, the second at The Liquid Playground, which we did a full BYERLY night, and he was awesome with the whole crowd, talked about the sport and progression, chilled with Son one of his old board artist, and the 3rd time was at expo and toe jam, and he remembered me from the shop. for being a pro, and taking the time to remember a random shop worker means something to me. he was pretty chill and down to earth. but when i met BT at expo, all he did was move his head phones to the side for a minute and say whats up. some pros are cool, and others arnt.

i like seeing bt's re-entry vflips.
these guys are no spring chickens, and they all have been muffed up badly by the wakeskate. so from experience, i can say that progression isn't as important as having fun......as you get older it seems there is more at stake, your bones are weaker, your joints are worn, and your time becomes more preciosa.....and to a wakeskater nada es mas preciosa than the ability to do werk on the wake.
