I'm not sure how to interpret that comment about ben moving to remote...ben got his start with oak, but with remote he has the resources that will allow him to do some really great things for wakeskating. It's really difficult that there's not a lot of money in wakeskating and companies aren't as visible, but Remote has the chance to change all that, not to mention they've got some of the best representatives showing people how a wakeskate should be ridden. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I kinda see what you mean, if you watch football you can compare it to the Jason Taylor of the Dolphins who spent like 10 years + with them just got picked up by the Jets... pisses me off cuz hes the man, and i hate the jets, but thats just how sports work. Sponsers come and go, riders/atheletes see new opportunities and snag them, some times better and some times for worse. Some times other companies simply have more to offer than the father company they came from.
Its weird but that's how it works, it doesnt surprise me any more to see a team member leave in the wake world, after seeing the cassette team disband and reed and hampson go to LF nothing can shift my emotions. They were a true brother hood under the roof of cassette. After seeing that bunch running around all crazy and having , what looked like, the best time of their lives at Pro Tour 04 in otown, i knew they were more than just a simple wake team. I dont know about Nick going to Hyperlite.... but who knows where he will be in a year? or 5? of course depending on any contractual agreements he may or may not have. The same goes for any rider though. |

If nick moved to hyperlite I'd lose faith in wakeskating humanity all together. I am already feeling the burn now that some of you youngsters are all about "waterskating." _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

PoopSkater, how is obscura weird? Liquid force gave danny and aaron a chance to branch out from a cooperate company and try focus on wakeskating only. Cassette was originally owned by liquid force, but does that make cassette weird, or less credible? I am sure there are many reasons why travis left oak, and they probably weren't on bad terms either. I mean with obscura he has been able to travel across the united states, and other parts of the world, and just focus on wakeskating. Obscura is a great company because it is one of the few board companies that can support full time wakeskating. We need our sport to be able to support riders such as ben, andrew, travis, nick, and stu to continue to progress our sport as the first generation of our sport slowly start to move on. _________________ -andrew- |

Cassette was NOT owned by liquid force, and it Never was. Cassette is one of the original companies that was truly rider run. Cassette was thomas' and cassette was licenced to liquid, and of course that run was helpful to wakeskating and thomas in many ways.
Right now I think obscura is quite different because it's still liquid's. Almost Every Obscura item has that tear drop logo somewhere on it. And that's not to say it's bad that it's liquid's, but I'd like to see Obscura actually be something on its own like remote, and I hope they get the chance to do that some day. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
